Day 2 of #ESSO44 in Gothenburg Sweden, Presentation by Dr. Isabel Rubio De-Escalate Staging and Management of the Axilla Recurrent Breast Cancer Isolated axillary recurrence after prior #BreastCancer treatment presents a complex management challenge, balancing oncologic control with morbidity. Traditional completion axillary lymph node dissection (ALND) achieves regional control but carries substantial risk of lymphedema and functional impairment. Contemporary practice emphasizes de-escalation, selectively using less invasive approaches such as repeat sentinel lymph node biopsy (re-SLNB) in selected patients.
