MLK Jr Parkway is now open to traffic. Issue resolved.

Traffic Information: MLK Jr Parkway near River Bend Hospital is currently closed due to police activity. Please avoid the area. If you need to access the hospital, please approach from Beltline and use St. Joseph Pl.

The parade kicks off Saturday, December 7th at 1pm. In an effort to prepare the community for the impending road closures associated with the parade, we're going to be sharing reminders in the days leading up to the day of the event.

City Hall, including the Library @wheremindsgrow, will delay opening until 11 a.m., tomorrow, Wednesday, January 17 due to the ongoing icy conditions and weather. City Hall and the Library will be open until 6 p.m. tomorrow. Springfield Municipal Court will be closed to the public tomorrow. However, virtual court hearings will continue as scheduled. The weather forecast seems to be a moving target, but the Operations Division of Development and Public Works is ready to hit the mark no matter what comes our way. Preparations have been made, including equipping sanders, sharpening chainsaws, and conducting winter weather equipment training for Operations staff. If ice or snow should accumulate, the City will prioritize hospital entrances, main arterial streets and intersections, and residential streets on hills and steep slopes.
