This was the first thing I posted on here last time and it will be the first thing I post on here the second time. On the advice of my good friends at @ADVENTURES0NIC I'm coming back. I'm keeping Tumblr for logging discoveries, but that site sucks for posting memes now.

I think I've just witnessed the most amazing mod for a Sonic game I've seen in years

@senorDane Yeah the gameplay is going well. Character code-wise Sonic and Knuckles are done, the rest are missing a few things but are mostly done . Here's Twinkle Park. There's things that need to be worked on, particularly cameras, sfx and object collision, but otherwise yeah.

@SPEEPSHighway2 Might be some kind of a dumb question but... how decompiled is Sonic Adventure's gameplay code? And is it any good? I've yet seen anyone do anything interesting with it! Except for melpontros Unity engine he was showing of and the guy who did Classic Adventure Sonic mode for gens

@SPEEPSHighway2 Man I hate it when I'm relaxing playing Sonic Adventure and the evil skeleton comes out of nowhere, forces the perspective to 2D and chases Sonic and kills him instantly when he catches him.

@BlueShoes7w It warps Sonic to Chaos 4 and then progresses the story after he beats the boss. (the breaks in this case lead to where the game tells it to go to the next case)

@SPEEPSHighway2 So is this basically a story checkpoint to see if you have beaten chaos 4 in sonics story yet and then it breaks after you beat it? - I haven’t yet learnt coding 😁

Digging into Sonic's story sequence, feels like I could end a lot of suffering by removing this part:

Fun Fact: The code for the other characters still exists in SA2: The Trial. Here's Sonic with the brain of Mech Tails:

@MediumSmokes The model is a placeholder (They manually constructed it with a bunch of spheres in its code) but given that its name is HIYOKO (chick) and Tikal has an unused line about it, the thing was definitely going to be some form of bird.

@SPEEPSHighway2 Ever since I learnt of this I've just wondered, this was CLEARLY never meant to be a real thing and they just shaped it like a duck as a placeholder, right? Unless this was meant to go specifically on Twinkle Park, there's no way they were planning for a Duck enemy, right????
