The Southern Platte Fire Protection District wishes everyone a fun and safe Memorial Day today, while we remember the sacrifice made in service to our country. We also would like to thank the group who took the time to honor those we have lost.

The Southern Platte Fire Protection District sends our condolences to the Lenexa Fire Department as they face the tragedy of losing one of their own. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family, friends and colleagues affected by this tragedy.

In April of 1991, the SPFPD Communications center at Station #1 in downtown Parkville was moved to Station #3 at 10811 NW 45 Hwy. The full-time communications center was staffed by paid personnel and handled emergency dispatching for the district

On April 13th, 1999: BNSF train derailed in downtown Parkville, piling 26 train cars in one city block. It is estimated that approximately 3,000 tons of coal buried downtown Parkville. Thankfully, no injuries or deaths were reported.

Our three new firefighters were introduced to and officially hired by the @SPFPD Board of Commissioners. Welcome and congratulations to all of you.

Firefighters Wood, Reiter and Stringfield started their careers this week with @SPFPD. Over the next few weeks they will be going through a new recruit academy learning how to operate within our organization.
