Among conservatives, trusting news journalists is strongly associated with believing "global warming will cause Earth to be uninhabitable in 10-15 years."
Trusting journalists matters much less for liberals (on this issue)--regardless of their trust levels, around 1 in 3 liberals think the world will end in 10-15 years because of climate change.

It's a big problem that tons of climate journalism/ discourse has consistently used the worst case outlier model and presented it as a prediction of what was most likely to happen. But as it stands, even the worst-case scenario is being radically adjusted down. Hopefully climate journalists/ advocates don't just adopt the next worst-case model and instead discuss the most likely scenarios modelers have painted. There's lots of work on this: it doesn't help motivate action to do doomsaying. It feed fatalism on the one hand, and mistrust of models/ climate science on the other (when we remain far from our goals but nothing like the "predicted" outcomes manifests).

Al Gore’s dramatic climate warnings shaped a generation — but 20 years later, the data tell a very different story.
Climate-related deaths are down 97% over the past century, polar bears more than doubled since the 1960s, and global burned area has decreased by more than 25% over the past quarter century.
That's hardly a success of climate policy though: fossil fuels still provide 81% of world energy, emissions keep rising, and $16 trillion+ spent on green policies since Gore's movie came out hasn’t changed the trajectory.
A good reminder that panic is a terrible policy adviser.
