Mw19 is the longest living cod game. Without a doubt. It took 2-3 cod releases to get people off the game. Anything pre mw19 to AW was absolutely garbage and killed the scene. Mw19 brought it back. Only people that disagree is the cod fanboys that only play cod and the comp scene which also mw19 wave saved. End of the day you gotta realize call of duty is a simple noob friendly, point and shoot fps geared for first time/ new gamers or normies (non gamers) looking to game casually with their friends every once and a while. Love CDL and people that wanna try and make cod competitive but you gotta also accept the type of game cod is and set your expectations there.

Yah mw 19 started picking up around this time. But when it comes to staying on the game. There is always people that stay on previous games or go back to different cods. But it’s never been to the extent mw19 was. When it comes to comp I get you but, imo how much does comp matter to a game like cod? Sure we like it but the other like 95% of the player base 1.Don’t even know competitive cod exists or don’t care. Warzone def was a major factor in the success and hard carried the multi but with that there was a ton of new people falling in love with multiplayer and it did sustain itself for a little. but when it comes to competitive play, even Warzone offers way more than what competitive multiplayer has ever done. It’s no where like other major esports games where competitive play impacts public perception and dictate how the game is updated. This is something I feel cod tried to make everyone happy but just makes no one happy. Cod is simply not a competitive game. It’s an arcade game. Once people stop trying to make it competitive that’s where the fun comes in.

Adam people were playing COD4, OG MW2, BO1, OG MW3, BO2 & BO3 3-4+ years consistently after those games came out. MW2019 only “lasted” because of COVID & Warzone. How quickly people forget how DEAD 2019 was 2-3 months after release. While I do agree with the one point you made saying it took 2-3 years for it to not be the most popular CoD it was mainly WZ doing numbers not MP & by no means was it the first CoD to do such, it was normal back in the glory days of CoD to have all games running around with a lot of players revisiting older games, CoD has unfortunately lost that because the games just aren’t as good. I think the game is PERFECT for casuals but that’s why the game is so shit. CoD has always had noobs and campers and people using braindead meta but MW2019 took it to a whole new level. It was the first CoD after playing CoD since 2009 where 3-4 hours into the game I deleted it because of how ratty and slow paced it was and another point I disagree with is you said it revived the comp scene but it actually did the total opposite, most legends in the pro scene retired mid season or right after the season because of how bad the game was competitively and its regarded as the worst CoD game of all time unanimously for it. I would say competitive viewership with ALL games & genres is much bigger than they were 10 years ago. The market for comp gaming is bigger than ever. I don’t like the whole “revived” wording with this game because 90% of this games success was a battle royale that felt nothing like the actual MP experience. If you wanna say WZ revived CoD I’m with it but 2019 as a MP did more damage than good years down the line. My last thing with this is if it wasn’t for COVID no one would give a shit about this game. As a CoD experience CW, Vanguard, MWlll & BO7 causally/comp are significantly better experiences than 2019.

The “return to form” 1: No default mini map 2: Safe spaces for new players 3: Camp first play style 4: No prestige system 5: Skill based matchmaking 6: (Essentially) No third game mode support 7: The worst map selection in the franchise 8: Tactical Sprint I could keep going.
