May we learn, like Mary, to discover God’s greatness in the little things of life. May we learn to care for the precious gift of life: life in the womb, the lives of children, the lives of the suffering, the poor, the elderly, the lonely, and the dying.

Let us entrust to Mary this new Jubilee Year. Let us entrust to her our worries, our sufferings, our joys, and all the concerns that we bear in our hearts. Let us entrust to her the whole world, so that hope may be reborn and peace may spring up for all the peoples of the earth.

‘The Word became flesh and lived among us, full of grace and truth.’ (John 1)

I express my grateful appreciation to all those in the many areas of conflict who work for dialogue and negotiations. Let us pray that the fighting will cease on every front, and that there will be a decisive effort for peace and reconciliation.

‘Live your whole life according to the Christ you have received - Jesus the Lord. You must be rooted in him, built on him, and held firm by the faith you have been taught.’ (Colossians 2)
