We are awarding one student in Ontario who is enrolled in a Canadian University/College with a $3,500 scholarship towards eligible expenses.  The winner can be entering any year of a program as long as they are attending full-time classes in Sept 2022.ow.ly/z2ll50JYxah

Woke Mommy Chatter - Kearie Daniel
@YCDSB trustee @DinoGiuliani9 has done and is doing everything in his power to ensure police are a force within @ycdsb schools, despite @YRP pausing the program. On Tuesday July 21st at the board meeting he will bring this motion forward and trustees will asked to vote. #stophim

While we are on the discussion of how the @YCDSB is continuously complicit in the ongoing violence and racism of Indigenous students and community members. Here is the YCDSB’s “land acknowledgement” from 2017 which does not acknowledge the Indigenous territory the YCDSB occupies

Why are teachers in your schools teaching the narrative that “Indigenous children in residential schools were already sick as dogs” These are questions we need answers to.

Apart from posing with your orange shirts, what are the @YCDSB commitments to prioritizing and creating an inclusive space for Indigenous students within your schools? This is looking very PERFORMATIVE. We want ACTIONS to move beyond hashtags and photos.

Today we gathered on the lawn of CEC to stand together in solidarity with Indigenous people everywhere on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Thank you Chief Delorme for another inspiring talk today @cadmusd. Know the truth and find ways to reconciliation.

@YCDSB what will your response be to this? As you continuously fail to provide accountability to Indigenous and Black communities.

We hope people realize how much work goes into advocacy work in education and how challenging it is when people in positions of power silence us, and prevent us for creating equitable and inclusive school spaces for our Black, Racialized and Marginalized students.

It is very exhausting and re - traumatizing to have to sit in these meetings with hired educators, directors, and superintendents who pretend to be unaware of Anti Black Racism, and discrimination.
