Still feeling nauseous here. Putin has butchered an innocent, neighboring, free country’s people! After invading Ukraine with the goal of occupying and stealing its land, to start to recreate the former Soviet Empire! And for 3 years now he has committed brutal, horrific war crimes against the Ukrainian people! Kidnapping and killing Ukraine’s children, raping its women in front of their families! Authorized constant civilian targeted bombings! This man is EVIL. He has caused horrendous suffering to the people of Ukraine! An international pariah wanted for crimes against humanity! Of course, it’s good that Trump wants to try to negotiate peace. Attempt to get a cease fire. Might have been nice if he hadn’t first lifted the sanctions against Russia upon taking office! Stopped foreign interference cyber security preventive efforts in place. Had already gave Putin some gifts upon taking office, that amounted to nothing yet. But I’m glad Trump is committed to trying! But the way this bilateral meeting was staged, on our own soil and military base, and the fact MAGA IS CELEBRATING this damn red carpet photo, is nauseating to me! We shouldn’t celebrate this. A photo like this. Given WHAT IT SIGNIFIES for PUTIN! Putin has already GOT A HUGE WIN out of Trump, just from the invitation and red carpet treatment! Just by being seen geopolitically as a ‘leader’ again on the world stage! Let’s hope the embarrassment to America given this symbolic win for Putin already here, will end up bringing along a cease fire! But something tells me he won’t get the job done today, and that makes me sad for the Ukrainian people. Maybe he’ll announce a second meeting with Zelensky, as Trump’s already all but promised. With some terms discussed for a possible cease fire, without making any territorial promises, like he promised Zelensky and our European partners. But a peace deal cannot be negotiated without Zelensky present. But I fear Putin will head home with his red carpet bilateral meeting win, after being in diplomatic isolation and go back to bombing Ukraine. While gaining some possible side deals with Trump, unrelated to the war, just to get him to agree to the second meeting. 🙄😳 Seriously praying Trump proves me wrong for the sake of Zelensky and the Ukrainian people! But even a ‘promise’ of a cease fire means nothing if both parties aren’t present to sign and agree to it. See what happens….
