Happy Eid al-Adha to all of our colleagues, patients and communities who are celebrating! Eid al-Adha, 16th - 20th June, the ‘Festival of Sacrifice, is celebrated among Muslims in remembrance of Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to Allah.

Happy Pride Month everyone! June is the Pride Month and is dedicated to celebrating LGBTQ+ communities all around the world and honouring the 1969 Stonewall Riots that took place in the USA. Pride Month is about acceptance, equality and human human rights.

Saturday 25th May marks the four-year anniversary of George Floyd’s murder by a police officer in Minneapolis Minnesota USA in 2020. A day of remembrance to honour his life and continue the fight for racial justice, equality and inclusion!

Today, 17th May, is the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexphobia and Transphobia. This Day aims to celebrate gender, sexual and bodily diversity, and campaigns against the violence and discrimination experienced by LGBTQ+ people around the world.

#MentalHealthAwarenessWeek is taking place from 13th to 19th May 2024. The theme for this year is 'Movement: Moving more for our mental health' Moving more can increase your energy levels, reduce stress and anxiety, and boost self esteem!

This week, 6th - 12th May 2024, is #DeafAwarenessWeek which aims to increase the visibility of challenges the deaf community face and educate others on how they can support them. This year’s theme is, “Empowering Deaf Communities: Embracing Diversity and Change".

Happy International Workers' Day! May 1st is a day dedicated to honouring the achievements of the labour movement and the contributions of workers. The day was formally established in 1889 by several socialist parties in Europe. #MayDay #InternationalWorkersDay

Happy #LesbianVisibilityWeek! A week, 22nd - 28th April, of celebration and support of the lesbian community around the world. #LVW24

Today is #InternationalRomaDay 2024! A day to celebrate Romani history and culture and raise awareness of the issues and injustices that Roma people still face. The day was officially declared in 1990. According to UNICEF, about 12 to 15 million Romani live in Europe.

The World Autism Acceptance Week takes place from 2nd to 8th April 2024. The aim of this week is to raise awareness and acceptance of people with Autism and support them in their everyday life. It is estimated that there are around 700,00 Autistic people in the UK.

ODD would like to wish everyone a Happy Easter! On Sunday 31st March, Western Christian churches will celebrate the holiest day of Christianity, #Easter which honours the Resurrection of Jesus from the dead, after His Crucifixion and signifies the triumph of life over death!

International Day for the the Elimination of Racial Discrimination is annually observed on 21st March. The day was established by the UN in response to the events of 21st March 1960 when police killed 69 people at a demonstration in South Africa against the apartheid pass laws.

Today, 15th March, is the United Nations #InternationalDayToCombatIslamophobia! A day to raise awareness about the discrimination and prejudice against Muslims, to promote a better understanding of Islam and to encourage respect for diversity and cultural differences.

Today is the beginning of #Ramadan2024! Muslims around the world celebrate their holiest month of the year. The month when the Quran was said to have been revealed to Prophet Muhammad by God. Happy #Ramadan to all of our colleagues, patients and communities who are celebrating.
