Unfortunately being an outspoken, sometimes spicy✨, woman comes with a particular set of challenges. Public & private threats of violence. sexual harassment & constant insults against my integrity is more than exhausting; it’s scary & took a serious toll on my mental health

Self care, community care, and mental health are so important.
Harassment in all forms is unacceptable. Employers have a responsibility to protect their employees from it and provide the capacity and space to recover from the toll that reporting can take on us.

Most journalists of color are doing some form of unpaid labor, whether that's consulting about diversity/ equity/ inclusion, mentoring young journalists, recruiting new talent, or developing trusting relationships with sources. The creation of this letter is no exception.
