Special Tribunal for Lebanon

The Appeals Chamber unanimously sentenced Messrs Merhi et Oneissi to life imprisonment, the heaviest sentence under the Statute and the Rules, for each of the five crimes of which they were convicted and ordered that the sentences shall run concurrently.

L’arrêt portant condamnation met fin à la procédure engagée dans l’affaire Le Procureur c. Merhi et Oneissi (STL-11-01).

The sentencing Judgment concludes the proceedings in the case of Prosecutor vs. Merhi and Oneissi.

قال المدعي العام فاريل: "يجب أن نتذكر أن هذه ليست الخطوة الأخيرة نحو المساءلة. العدالة تطالب بالقبض عليهم. وأدعو أولئك الذين يحمون المتهمين الثلاثة من العدالة إلى تسليمهم إلى المحكمة الخاصة بلبنان ، كما أدعو المجتمع الدولي إلى اتخاذ أي خطوات متاحة للمساعدة في اعتقالهم".

Mr Farrell a déclaré que ce résultat n’est pas l’étape finale dans la redevabilité. Justic demande qu’ils soient arrétés. Il exhorte ceux qui leur permettent d’echapper à la justice de les livrer au TSL et la communauté intle à prendre toute mesure pour aider à leur arrestation.

Mr Farrell stated that this is not the final step towards accountability. Justice demands they be arrested. He calls on those shielding them from justice to surrender them to the STL & on the intl community to take all steps available to assist in their arrest.

La Chambre d’appel juge à l’unanimité que les crimes dont Merhi et Oneissi ont été déclarés coupables étaient d’une gravité extrême et que certaines circonstances aggravantes relevées par l’Accusation ont été établies au-delà de tout doute raisonnable. bit.ly/3aSKEvh

The Appeals Chamber unanimously found that the crimes of which Messrs Merhi and Oneissi were convicted were extremely grave and that certain aggravating circumstances pleaded by the Prosecutor had been established beyond reasonable doubt.bit.ly/3aSKEvh
