Last week, #STRIKFORNATO 🔱 hosted senior military officers from the Portuguese Instituto Universitário Militar (IUM) 🇵🇹 Flag Officer Course, which prepares them for their responsibilities as future Admirals and Generals.   The officers were received by our DCOM, RADM Craig Wood CBE 🇬🇧, DCOS OPS, RDML Eduardo Guitián Crespo 🇪🇸 and DCOS SUP, CAPT Clemente Gil 🇵🇹. During their visit, they were briefed on our mission to deliver high-end maritime strike and defence capabilities to ensure the security of the 1 billion citizens of the @NATO Alliance. The IUM is dedicated to academic, scientific, and strategic training in defence and security, and delivers continuous training and education to the Portuguese Armed Forces 🇵🇹 as well as foreign military officers.

On this day in 1386, the Treaty of Windsor established the world’s oldest diplomatic alliance between 🇵🇹 🤝 🇬🇧. This day is a reminder that unity built on trust can stand firm through centuries, shaping partnerships that endure challenges, evolve with time, and continue to strengthen our collective defence. Portugal 🇵🇹, the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 and all @NATO Allies continue to uphold the principles of unity and collective defence to ensure the security of the 1 billion citizens of the NATO Alliance.

📍Black Sea | ✈️⚓️   Aircraft from the @Armee_de_lair and @MarineNationale are taking part in the NEPTUNE STRIKE enhanced vigilance activity (eVA).   Deployment of assets from the sea 🌊 and from France 🇫🇷.   🎯 Contributing to the defence of Europe’s eastern flank and to promote freedom of navigation in international airspace.

Had a great meeting with U.S. Navy at @STRIKFORNATO, a Military Command subordinate to the navigational course set by the Supreme Allied Commander Europe @US_EUCOM. By integrating the most powerful combat-credible 🇺🇸 maritime forces, we project the unmatched lethality required for deterring adversaries and defending our territory and people.

As we continue #NeptuneStrike 🔱 26, the @NATO Permanent Representatives of Portugal 🇵🇹 and the United States 🇺🇸 visited #STRIKFORNATO 🔱 HQ for the first time. His Excellency, Ambassador Paulo Vizeu Pinheiro 🇵🇹 and the Honourable Ambassador Matthew G. Whitaker 🇺🇸 were welcomed by our DCOM, RADM Craig Wood CBE 🇬🇧, COS, BGEN Andrew Priddy 🇺🇸, DCOS OPS, RDML Eduardo Guitián Crespo 🇪🇸, DCOS SUP & Portuguese Senior National Representative, CAPT Clemente Gil 🇵🇹, and the U.S. Senior National Representative, CAPT Andrew Liggett 🇺🇸. “STRIKFORNATO’s role in integrating Allied carrier strike groups into the NATO command and control structure is critical to our collective defence” - Ambassador Vizeu Pinheiro 🇵🇹 “By integrating the most powerful combat-credible maritime forces, we project the unmatched lethality required to deter our adversaries” - Ambassador Whitaker 🇺🇸 During the visit, the ambassadors met with our multinational team of remarkable professionals and received a brief on STRIKFORNATO’s mission to deliver high-end maritime strike and defence capabilities to ensure the security of the 1 billion citizens of the NATO Alliance. Yesterday, the Commander of @JsecNato, LGEN Kai Ronald Rohrschneider 🇩🇪 was welcomed at #STRIKFORNATO 🔱 by DCOM, RADM Craig Wood CBE 🇬🇧, COS, BGEN, Andrew Priddy 🇺🇸, DCOS OPS, RDML Eduardo Guitián Crespo 🇪🇸 and DCOS SUP, CAPT Clemente Gil 🇵🇹.   During his visit, LGEN Rohrschneider was briefed on the STRIKFORNATO-led #NeptuneStrike 🔱 2026 enhanced Vigilance Activity (eVA), as well as our wider mission to deliver high-end maritime strike and defence capabilities, while the JSEC delegation provided an overview of their mission to coordinate enablement and set the theatre for reinforcement by forces to ensure the defence of the 1 billion citizens of the @NATO Alliance.

Today, our #STRIKFORNATO 🔱 interns visited the @EUDrugsAgency 🇪🇺, based in Lisbon 🇵🇹. The interns received a tour of their facility and a brief on how EUDA operates, gaining valuable insight into the agency’s role in enhancing Europe’s readiness against drug‑related threats.   EUDA is the leading authority on illicit drugs in Europe and provides independent scientific evidence and analysis on this constantly evolving threat to individual lives and wider society.   ✍️ Ready to be part of an international multi-mission environment? Act 💥 Exercise Neptune Strike 26 demonstrates NATO’s ability to integrate Special Operations Forces with conventional maritime forces. 🇮🇹 ITS FASAN and the San Marco Marine Brigade operated alongside 🇦🇱 Albanian SOF to execute a simulated vessel boarding—sharpening responses to complex maritime scenarios. By operating together, these forces enhance interoperability across domains and strengthen NATO’s collective readiness at sea. This is deterrence in action. Ready. Vigilant.
