@Coolingtower50 "Toyoko no Kuni" can be read in two main contexts, simply a "a faraway land" which as mentioned can read as the mainland and as the prosperous "land of the gods" which for our purposes fits the Lunar Capital. Of course it can always be it's own pocket thing, small as it may be.

@Coolingtower50 We have to keep in mind what each if used to represent too. The Celestials' Heaven is primarily used as allegory for a detached upper class, removed from earthly struggle. The Netherworld is "Pure" due to it existing as a place for which is at peace with death, thus unchanging.

I really should read more on the matter, but Larva as outright being Tokoyo no Kami has never sat well with me. It's always struck me more as any relation being that of an unaware avatar at most due to the ties of what they represent, going with the themes of syncretism in HSiFS.

@Coolingtower50 I'd hazard any aspects of Toyoko would be assimilated in the Moon far as Touhou is concerned if it ever is to be referenced more, given how much it draws from Chinese aesthetics and assigned myth. This keeping in mind that Toyoko can easily be read as a mythologized mainland.

@SThaveto Though I guess this asks the question of what Tokoyo would even be in Touhou relative to the other afterlives and 'heavenly places' like the netherworld, the Hells, the Moon ect.

@7starsmessenger On top of the expected bit of not much being translated, sometimes it feels like it's often seen as more of a historical curiosity due to how little documentation even exists (or is recognized as being about it). Not the easiest thing to draw conclusions on from outside.

"New Classic" is such a funny label to be honest. This Japanese doujin developer still comes up with barely cohesive English titles the old fashioned way.

I beat Fantastic Danmaku Festival Part III on as Mokou... Dear lord, Goddess Inmari, that final Spell card had my heart a racing, good gods! Best Touhou game ever!

@GospelBurnout Maybe we can convince them to push into PoFW with real official netcode, but considering the project started on basically a whim who even knows.

You guys think Touhou 7- 8 will be the only games that will get the remakes, or we will probably see more even though most of them are available to get

@KGloosoft Imo he got better on technical front (poses, anatomy) but failed to adapt his old coloring style using digital tool, resulting in the loss of textures and general shading. He do flat color and shading the way modern anime does

Thinking about it, if there's any actual legal affair there it would probably be tied to Amusement Makers affairs, and I have absolutely no clue how that would interact.

Considering ZUNs direct involvement it shouldn't really raise any particular legal issues, while it reminds me of the PC-98 takedown affair from a few years back that always felt like ZUN wanting that whole affair to just be buried and forgotten rather than any legal concern.

So the full body illustrations was what the backup was about, so with that comment on the recreation part for EoSD we can assume that has a different source. Considering how invoiced every corner is, I guess it could involve the decompilation which is fairly interesting.

EOSD remake brings up an interesting question. Is it a fan game or is it official? It worked on my several fan circles, yet Zun is heavily involved, but it only exists because fans want it. Touhou truly is a weird series.
