Kwara State University, Malete's Dr. Khafayat Yetunde Olatinwo has been appointed an Adjoint Fellow of the African Space Leadership Institute (ASLI).
As a non-resident inaugural fellow, she will spend the next 12 months deepening relevant knowledge and skills related to her area of interest.
She would also go through mandatory and optional courses, trainings, and activities while working alongside other ASLI teams in pursuit of its core objectives of expanding and deepening space knowledge and expertise across Africa, supporting strong strategic positioning of space programmes in Africa, and strengthening Africa’s engagement in international institutions and forums.
Dr. Olatinwo joins other Inaugural Fellows from Zimbabwe, Kenya, and Botswana.
Khafayat Olatinwo is an Associate Professor of Law at Kwara State University, Nigeria. Her work focuses on space security, legal regimes governing outer space activities, and dispute resolution mechanisms for space-related conflicts.
Her research engages issues of equity, sustainability, and access within the global space order with particular attention to the position of emerging space nations in Africa.
She currently leads and contributes to policy-oriented research projects aimed at articulating strategic frameworks for Nigeria’s space policy and advancing Africa’s participation in the global space economy.
Dr. Olatinwo is currently, the Vice-President of the Space Law and Arbitration Association and is a member of the International Institute of Space Law (IISL).
