In 2007, war was raging in Iraq. Car bombings killed 55 Iraqis celebrating the country’s semi-final win in the AFC. The team felt culpable and considered pulling out of the tournament. A mother of a 12 year old victim sent a message to the team: “Win it for my son”. They did. 🇮🇶
