Bridging the gap between understanding whats important for Performance in sport & knowing how to coach it Education focuses so much on measurable outcomes that coaches don't know to look for This is the start of that change

@SimonBrundish Footballers just want to be footballers. They're afraid of being athletes. And people still think you can't spontaneously get too big & that being strong doesn't help ok the pitch ..

If anyone tries to tell you these things relate & this is how you should train for speed & agility they’re an IDIOT

Is it "Working"? Ibu Konate is the standout player in Liverpool's squad who as increased availability Im not sure any physical outputs have risen for any player in last 2 seasons Players who had previously shown a history of being injured have....been injured...and repeatedly too Then Frimpong......

First workshop of 2026 done ✔️ Young/new coaches don't need more theoretically knowledge They need more practical information about what works. How to logistically set up a training session. How to organise a training week. That's what these workshops are aiming to do.

I always complain that when it comes to coacb education that there's a real lack of application to it Very little you can take from them and implement immediately Not with this Speed & Agility workshop for coaches on Monday @ 10am in Atlas High Performance

Track & Field should be the foundation of every coaches programming & methodology. It covers every aspect of development from beginner to advanced and it’s very straight forward. It removes all other variables that affect performance. You got better or you didn’t.

One thing about opinions on here: You’ve gotta understand sometimes beliefs are rationalizations more so than true philosophy. Eg. Coach A says you only need to sprint 10’yards, no further. Then you find out they only have room to sprint 10 yards. They may just be coping 🤷🏻‍♂️

It's been a breath of fresh air working with such a progressive club on this long term project Providing S&C / Sport Science services at club level and delivering a mentorship programme for coaches while in employment What Atlas High Performance was designed to be

@ncahill1 @irishscnetwork Speed development always. It's the hardest to gain & the quickest to dissipate when we stop training it and it has the biggest impact on the outcomes of games. Crawling, tumbling & wrestling variations for strength work if limited on time. Speed ever present ..

@sw_elite @irishscnetwork So should b'é prioritise speed development over strength at under age level.. remember very limited time to cover all so would Speed development b'é the one to prioritise?

@DeasunO Agreed that they shouldn't be and that information is readily available. I just don't feel they are being guided in the right direction. Based on personal experience with taking students in for placement opportunities. Speed is still not a priority for alot of S&Cs/Coaches/Teams

@sw_elite Ireland has some of the best S&C’s sport scientists in the world. New graduates should not be working with professional athletes. Plenty of information available for students. But yes a focus should be on GAMESPEED in rugby to bridge the gap.

A powerful and fast winger ends Munsters champions cup. Ireland need to develop this type of player. Other provinces are making progress in this area. Game changers.
