Very enjoyable afternoon ‘twitch’ just 30 mins from my place, point-to-point! Night Heron showed superbly well, so went back for another look this evening and re-found it down by the canal. Not fussed by our presence….and hoping it’s well enough to survive this cold spell. 🤞🏻

A Black-necked Grebe brightened up the day at Holme Pierrepont last week. A one day passage migrant - unfortunately didn't stay - but gave some great views.

@CleyBirds What would cause that black hood on a herring, something genetic?

A really exceptional bird at Lowestoft Ness today and a very nice try for a Great Black-headed Gull given only a quick look, but sadly just a stained Herring Gull! (More pics at cleybirds.com.)

@notbirdingnick Yes I saw that, it’s a shame as they would’ve been a county tick and a patch tick. I’ve been keeping an eye on the goose flock quite regularly as with the pinkies in with the white fronts it could pull a bean goose in. Running out of time though 😬

Just finishing my @WeBS_UK at Girton Pits early PM when I noticed 6 Tundra Bean Geese circling distantly to the north and dropping into North Pit. Feels like we were due some locally given the goose influx, but pleasing nonetheless and only the third group I’ve found in Notts.

Cracking few hours around Charnwood after work this morning, flock of RWFG still lingering at Cotes albeit distant, Lesser Scaup at Swithland still (awful pic below) then finished off with displaying Goshawk 👌🤌

Holkham got in on the white fronted goose influx today with a minimum count of 880, split over 2 groups, on the reserve. Didn't get the chance to check Overy or Norton so there were probably more about. Bonkers numbers
