In April 2026, the State Pension age starts rising from 66 to 67. This will see thousands more terminally ill people miss out on the State Pension and face poverty as a result.
Research we've commissioned at Loughborough University suggests that if working age people were to receive a State Pension level of income, it would lift over 9000 people out of poverty.
We're calling for the government to act now to put this protection in place, before more people with a terminal illness are pulled into poverty.

In this webinar, our speakers explore what food means when health is declining - how people cope, how families adapt, and how nutritional care can support mental wellbeing.
Join us for a thoughtful conversation on the emotional and relational importance of food, and how we can better support patients and caregivers through compassionate, holistic care.

Many services are moving to digital. It opens new possibilities for accessibility & engagement. It also surfaces barriers - digital exclusion, loss of informal connection & systems that used to be relational that now feel transactional. A key issue is how we make digital transformation people-centred, participatory, & inclusive:
1) Design for inclusion, not just efficiency: systems that work for everyone — including people with limited digital confidence, without reliable internet access &/or those who rely on face-to-face connection
2) Move beyond ‘broadcasting’ to participation: design for real-time collaboration, idea-sharing & feedback
3) Build digital spaces that strengthen relationships: not just replacing old ways of working, but creating new forms of connection
4) Rethink what digital transformation really means: not just automating existing structures, but challenging them & decentralising control

We’re excited to launch new research priorities for palliative and end of life care👇
In partnership with the @LindAlliance, @UCLPsychiatry and others, and co-funded with @ESRC and @mndassoc , we’ve established a refreshed list of research priorities. Following analysis of data from surveys and a workshop, people with lived experience of end of life care, including healthcare professionals, guided the creation and ranking of these new priorities.
Read the blog and report to find out more about the process and priorities, and how they can shape future end of life care research.

Because we want to be "productive", we may spend more & more time in "doing" mode (achieving goals & checking items off our to-do lists). But we may get better overall outcomes if we spend less time in "doing" & more time in "spacious" mode (pausing to see multiple possible choices, make wiser decisions, build interdependencies & relationships). 4 tactics to challenge the "busyness" of doing mode:
1) Give ourselves permission to pause
2) Train our minds to be more spacious
3) Build routines to make it safer to pause
4) Pause with other people who are supportive.

@atensnut This is what caring should be about, ensuring individuals feel "cared" and respected through true compassion. Carers are often wonderful at doing this. Government/ Assembly, make note: investment is essential to ensure we get more of these wonderful carers in our communities.
