Carl-Gustaf indoor trainer delivers highly realistic battlefield simulations. Soldiers train using weapon replicas with accurate weight, while compressed air replicates real recoil. An interactive screen presents dynamic combat scenarios, complete with changing terrain and enemy targets. When users fire at the screen, the system calculates outcomes by factoring in variables such as flight time, temperature and wind, determining whether the shot results in a hit or a miss.

Saab’s composite superstructure, built from carbon fibre composites, offers a lighter, smarter alternative to traditional steel or aluminium ship structures, cutting structural weight by around 50% while eliminating corrosion. But it does more than save weight; it also helps shield ships from electromagnetic signals, a key factor behind the remarkable stealth of the Visby-class corvette. The technology is also used in the Indian Navy, with INS Kavaratti and INS Kiltan featuring Saab-supplied composite superstructures.

Around 90% of global trade moves by sea, making secure oceans non-negotiable for the global economy. For navies like the Indian Navy, maintaining strong maritime awareness and capability is essential. SLIM – Saab Lightweight Integrated Mast is a multi-capability top-deck mast that integrates major radars, sensors and antennas into a single lightweight structure, offering greater operational performance. It can also be fitted to existing ships, enabling navies to upgrade capability without building new vessels.

Can modern air forces like the Indian Air Force afford to overlook autonomy in drones? According to Axel Bååthe, who leads The Rainforest at Saab, most unmanned systems today rely mainly on sensors to carry out missions. The future, however, lies in AI-driven autonomy, enabling drones to protect themselves, adapt to missions and operate in large numbers, he says. saab.com/markets/india/…

The Indian Armed Forces have used the Carl-Gustaf system for decades, but how do soldiers actually train with it? The Carl-Gustaf Indoor Trainer combines realistic weapon replicas with an immersive virtual battlefield. Soldiers handle accurately weighted launchers while compressed air simulates real recoil. An interactive screen projects dynamic combat scenarios with shifting terrain and moving enemy targets, creating a safe yet highly realistic training environment.

With its vast peninsula and complex, dynamic seabed topography, India’s maritime environment demands strong littoral dominance. For the Indian Navy, effective anti-submarine warfare is key to maintaining control in these waters. Saab Lightweight Torpedo features a fully digital homing system with both wire-guided and fire-and-forget capability, and is designed to operate in challenging hydroacoustic conditions. Launchable from air, surface and land platforms, it provides a flexible and reliable ASW solution across environments.

Within an invisible electromagnetic sphere, Arexis acts as both shield and weapon. Using advanced AI and gallium nitride antenna technology, it constantly scans the electromagnetic spectrum to detect threats such as enemy radar and missile guidance signals with remarkable speed and accuracy. But Arexis doesn't just detect, it disrupts as well. Through advanced jamming techniques, it can blind enemy radar and disable their targeting systems, turning their signals into useless noise.

Main Battle Tanks (MBTs) remain a dominant force on the modern battlefield. As India strengthens its anti-tank capabilities, Saab’s Next-Generation Light Anti-Tank Weapon (NLAW) offers a compact and effective solution. Weighing just 12.5 kg, this man-portable system can be easily carried and operated by soldiers in the field, and its guidance is designed to be resistant to jamming. Equipped with a 500 mm armour-piercing warhead, NLAW is capable of destroying heavily protected main battle tanks with a single shot. saab.com/markets/india/…

If disposable weapons are limited to being fired a single time, why do armed forces, including the Indian Army and the Air Force, rely on them? The answer lies in their mobility and ease of use. Lightweight, self-contained disposable weapons require no separate rounds, enabling rapid use with minimal training. Advanced variants like the AT4CS AST add confined-space capability, making them ideal for urban combat, where they can engage multiple target types and breach structures, enhancing infantry flexibility and survivability.

The modern battlefield is an invisible electromagnetic battleground, where victory depends as much on the control of the invisible spectrum as on firepower. For India, prioritising electronic warfare is key to giving pilots the confidence and capability to detect, deceive, and defeat emerging threats. Watch Brazilian Air Force pilots explain how Gripen E dominates the EW fight.
