They were known to doom-scroll Twitter during the morning meeting rather than engage and offer ideas for coverage. They never had ideas for coverage, just "we should do more of whatever." Anyway, I hope that editor is having a pleasant morning.

Just came on here to say: I worked with an editor who was described by myself and others as "benignly neglectful." That editor's lack of interest in a spine or any forethought was the nudge I needed to leave journalism forever. They didn't speak to me at all in my last two weeks.

You may have just gotten an alert on your phone that an earthquake was happening, but did you also get an alert 30 seconds *before* to warn you it was coming? I did with the @MyShakeApp! I first downloaded it in 2018, this was the first time I've ever seen it in action!
