Earlier today I summoned the Acting South African High Commissioner to Ghana, Mr. Thando Dalamba.
At the meeting, I conveyed the Government of Ghana’s strong condemnation of the continuous xenophobic attacks on Ghanaians and other Africans living in South Africa.
We are urging South African authorities to take decisive action in protecting the human rights and dignity of our nationals and all Africans.
Ghana equally expects that the promised investigations be expedited and all perpetrators punished to serve as adequate deterrence.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will communicate other steps we have taken in due course.

CARLOS QUEIROZ: The most important comment he made at his unveiling.
Perhaps, one of the few times I’ve missed the unveiling of a Black Stars Head coach. For good reasons.
Having taken time to watch excerpts of Carlos Queiroz’s presser, my take is that he has struck the right tones, but no handkerchiefs yet.
Ghana’s decision to appoint the Portuguese gaffer came as a surprise. Many, mostly Egyptian journalists took to my inbox to ridicule the decision. One remarked that, Carlos is the most soulless manager in the history of Egyptian football. Another claimed that “he’d set up defensively even against Burundi”.
At his unveiling however, Queiroz struck all the right notes. There was no grandstanding, no empty promises, just a clear message rooted in discipline and accountability. His assertion that no player is entitled to a national team shirt immediately sets the tone. Merit, not reputation, will define selection. For a team that has, at times, struggled with consistency and cohesion, that message alone could prove transformative. But there’s a bigger task. Many have talked big and delivered zilch.
Profound that he shows acute awareness of the emotional weight the Black Stars carry in this country. His acknowledgement of this reality is perfect. However describing the role as the greatest challenge of his career could be an exaggeration. Especially coming from a coach with over four decades of experience across continents and at the highest levels of the game. But I like it.
Yet, perhaps his most important remarks at the event was when he stated that Ghana, with the right approach, can beat any team in the world. Notably, he did not question the quality of the players as his usually clueless predecessor Otto did when pressure rose. Qeuiroz has what he has at his disposal. There are no new players anywhere. Perhaps the only new Ghanaians we are yet to fully try in the team are at the maternity wards.
There was no talk of limitations or rebuilding. Instead, his focus was singular: if the team plays as a cohesive unit, it can be unbeatable. He was emphatic, we could beat any team in the world. Thankfully, his assignment is to hit the world stage, right away.
It shifts the conversation away from individual talent and squarely onto collective responsibility. And that is precisely where his job begins. Coaching, at this level, is not about wishing for better materials. Panama is at the World Cup.
I read that we are in crisis. We are not. Iran is at the World Cup and not whining crisis.
Here, it is about maximizing what is available. It is about forging a team that is organized, disciplined, and united in purpose.
There should be no room for excuses. Queiroz arrives with a vast reservoir of experience, it should count for the $100,000. And this time when it fails spectacularly as it has been in recent times, touchwood, someone above him must pay for it.
The job is cut out. Get the Black Stars to play like a national team. Not as disjointed individuals, not as flashes of brilliance surrounded by errors but as a cohesive, disciplined unit that understands its identity.
The mandate is clear. The expectations are and will be high all the time. “Doing well” at the World Cup is non-negotiable.
And Ghanaians understand “doing well”.
No excuses.

@SaddickAdams I remember you and I running around trying to figure out the underground trains in London years ago. That summer was such good vibes.

UK is a leader but I don’t think the best.
Has to be Korea & Singapore for me. Integrated and most efficient in the world.
Air, land, subway, water. 👌

The UK has the best transport just that it's so expensive 😢

@SaddickAdams @kofitonto Only a far-thinking and cerebral football association is capable of making a top-class coaching appointing for the @GhanaBlackstars. 🙂

Slaven Bilic at this time?
West Ham Bilic was good.
But Beijing? Lokomotiv Moscow? Besiktas? Or Al-Fateh Bilic?😂
We have barely 9 weeks to a WC with a new squad, a Kudus injury crisis and a right back problem nobody has solved.
This is not the time for a coach who needs a geography lesson before his first training session.
Why are we even having the Bilic conversation?
Ghana deserves someone who already knows what they're walking into not someone discovering it on arrival.
