I was born and raised in Jos. I lived through the crisis of 2001. I know what it did, not just to our city, but to our minds and hearts. I left in 2006, but distance only deepened my love for Plateau State. I dreamt that one day, my children would experience the Jos I knew before it all changed: the peace, the laughter, the simple joys. Camping under the open sky. Fishing in Liberty Dam. Jumping into the lakes in Rayfield. Hiking through God’s own landscape. I’ve taken them there. They fell in love with it, just like I did. We did a lot of things I did as kids. (Will share a video soon) They even asked to move there, to attend my old school. But I told them they couldn’t be far from their parents. The truth is… it’s painful. Painful that a place so beautiful, so full of life, still struggles with the shadows of division. But I believe in Jos. I believe in Plateau. And I believe that one day, peace will not just return, but stay.
