A significant proportion of people with diabetes may be living with undiagnosed heart failure without knowing it. Yet with something as simple and widely available as an NT-proBNP blood test, followed by a heart scan where needed, 1 in 4 high-risk patients were found to have the condition. In contrast, only 1% of those receiving usual care were diagnosed. That gap tells you everything about the cost of not screening. The case for structured heart failure screening in diabetes has never been clearer.
