@EvonneTCurran @UKHSA @nhse The 5 micron definition used by UKHSA and IPC cell was debunked by Prof Beggs in his C-19 Inquiry expert witness evidence. Correct definition is around 100. So called droplets are aerosols! And 80% virus is in small aerosols, not large droplets.

Isolation is the best way of preventing transmission.
Surgical masks allow 50% aerosols out into surrounding air (source: Dr Donald Milton)
Valved respirators allow pretty much all aerosols out (source: common sense!)

The PCR positivity map is out, and national levels are holding steady.
GP swabbing levels have leapt from 0.6% to 3.3%; per RCGP this looks to be mainly in the north of England.
No Scottish data until next week.

During the Inquiry, the Chair of the IPC Cell, Lisa Ritchie, was also asked to elaborate on the process by which the IPC Cell reached a consensus view. It was revealed that no formal votes were taken & it was ultimately up to the Chair (Ritchie) to decide the consensus position.

Following the WHO press briefing, I wanted to compile a thread with the key points.
1/ ISOLATION OF PASSENGERS
Concerningly, it seems the WHO are NOT recommending to isolate cruise ship passengers (even high-risk contacts) UNLESS they develop symptoms.
