Delighted to see @QPR set to install more rail seating this summer qpr.co.uk/news/2026/apri…
English

@hellierd You're not wrong. Safe standing in Germany generally accommodates two standing fans per rail seat (when the seats are locked upright & the area is being operated as pure standing).
Narrow rows in old UK stadia make that impossible. But rows in new builds are adequately deep.

English

In Germany I think safe standing leads to an increase in capacity. And is cheaper. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I see a cheeky price rise has gone in... Wonder if that was in the consultation?

@a1_aird @Boblofft @Detroit67Book @StJohnstone @faircityunity There's Kilmarnock too (shown here). They, Celtic and now St Johnstone have steel rail seats. Falkirk, I believe, fitted barriers behind the existing plastic seats.

English

@Boblofft @SafeStandingRS @Detroit67Book @StJohnstone @faircityunity 1 didn’t know Falkirk did that great
2 that was point - thought was only Celtic that had done it premier well done Falkirk well aware Saints are top of championship thanks
English

Great to see the UK's latest safe standing area all set to open at @StJohnstone - And all the better that it's fitted with proper, compact, steel rail seats, funded in part through the fundraising efforts of the @faircityunity supporters group. Well done club and fans!

English

@nrpsimpson @jordanpbanks @StJohnstone @faircityunity Correct. If you're not doing the full width of a stand, it needs to be a block at one end or the other in order to prevent causing sightline issues for fans sitting in adjacent areas.
English

@jordanpbanks @SafeStandingRS @StJohnstone @faircityunity Tbf with their numbers, if they were in the middle of a section everybody else would need to stand up to see past them.
English

@jordanpbanks @StJohnstone @faircityunity Hey, no worries. Here's the 'before' picture. The lads standing in that area with no rails to prevent them from falling forward. And due credit to them: they raised a fair bit of money towards the overall cost.

English

@SafeStandingRS @StJohnstone @faircityunity I did not know that. Apologies. It makes a little more sense to me now. Thank you for the heads up, and apologies if I spoke out of turn.
English

@jordanpbanks @StJohnstone @faircityunity The block here is where @faircityunity currently stand. So, this is giving the fans in that ultras group better infrastructure in their existing 'home'. They have certainly not been pushed into a corner out of the way!
English

@SafeStandingRS @StJohnstone @faircityunity I get why Celtic have theirs in the corner, its a premium spot, but this seems like a bit of a slap in the face. If you are backing this, don't fuck them into the corner out of the way. if you don't have bowl set up, behind the goals is the only way to do it.
English

@Laboysco @grok @DeadlineDayLive Grok is wrong. No new rule has yet been passed. And two thirds of the Yellow Wall is a conventional terrace fitted with conventional crush barriers.

@TommySligo Correct. They were given exemption when the 50+1 rule was introduced due to having financed the clubs - at all levels - for over 20 years beforehand.
English

@SafeStandingRS Both those teams spawned from VW & Bayer works teams. VW guarantee Wolfsburg finances and likely Bayer the same
English

The solution @NFFC is Safe Standing, simple. It’s your own fault for putting fans in an unsafe away end knowing they’ll stand with shin high seats in front of them when there’s a SAFE solution available.

It looks even worse here, carnage and costly to sort out and there won’t be one single person held accountable for it. #NFFCvFB
English

@PnoTuna @SwindonSA @RedsssSeaside @CamelSaunders @pieman80 It's probably above 25 degrees on some places. 25 is the limit for a conventional terrace, and is what caused some confusion around the time of safe standing's introduction. However, "licensed standing in seated areas" is treated for this purpose as seating, so 35 degrees apply.
English

@SafeStandingRS @SwindonSA @RedsssSeaside @CamelSaunders @pieman80 Everyone will be taking their protractor to football today to measure how steep it is! 🤭
English

Easiest way the fix the Townend
Make it safe standing. The large amount of fans who want to stand would move back, no fear of anyone being trampled, better atmosphere when standing
No steward will bother you, telling you where to stand
Won’t be expensive

Swindon Town Football Club@Official_STFC
An important Town End update ahead of Saturday’s fixture with Bristol Rovers, including ticketing and safety information.
English

@SwindonSA @RedsssSeaside @CamelSaunders @PnoTuna @pieman80 Possible there too. Safe standing can be done at up to the same max gradient as for any other area of seating (35 degrees).
English

@SafeStandingRS @RedsssSeaside @CamelSaunders @PnoTuna @pieman80 Hi Jon, sorry to jump in but one follow up question if possible please. We've previously been told the Don Rogers Stand is too steep for modern regs, despite being built in '94. Anything in that would you know, or is should safe standing be possible there too?
Thanks
English

@Mike_p_1969_ @SafeStandingRS @CamelSaunders @PnoTuna @pieman80 Ha ha, unfortunately this is very true.
@SafeStandingRS Jon, I have emailed you, but not sure if those old email addresses I have are still valid. Can you please drop me a message if you are able? Thanks.

@RedsssSeaside @CamelSaunders @PnoTuna @pieman80 It would now be possible to convert the Town End to safe standing. No rules against it. Depending on the solution used, it would cost circa £50k to £250k.
English

@CamelSaunders @PnoTuna @pieman80 Yep, but you can't convert an old terrace into seating and then change it to safe standing.
They'd need to rebuild the terrace to get round it.
I remember discussing this with
@SafeStandingRS a few years back. Unless the rules have changed.
