Huge thank you to everyone who attended my #NEEPS2026 talk: “Situationships: A Modern Arena for Sexual Conflict in Human Mating.” Incredibly grateful that it won the AEPS (Applied Evolutionary Psychology Society) award! 🏆 So many brilliant talks, and such an intellectually stimulating and welcoming space where ideas can be openly debated, exactly what healthy science should look like! What might stop men from engaging in therapy for pornography addiction? "Women make up around 80% of clinical psychologists (BPS, 2024) and 74% of UKCP registered psychotherapists (BACP, 2017). This gender imbalance may introduce additional barriers for male clients, particularly when disclosing sensitive sexual issues and forming a strong therapeutic alliance." A less-discussed potential factor in the marriage and fertility crisis is that women have evolved psychologically to suppress other women's reproductive success (see Dani Sulikowski's research on female intrasexual competition). If that plays out at scale through female-driven cultural ideologies, fertility decline would be the natural result.

Instagram in its older form rewarded the perfectly curated frozen frame. TikTok/Reels reward dynamic attractiveness far more because people are constantly being seen from multiple angles. I think this is exactly why “facial balancing” (aka filler packages) have exploded to the extent that they have.

Wanna come over? My parents are out. In the UK, 35% of men aged 20-35 still live with their parents. In Spain the situation is much worse… Even after excluding students, over 50% of men (and around 40% of women) aged 25-34 are still living with their parents.
