The older I get as a bootstrapped founder the more I think of these as completely different. The outcome is similar, you build a company. But the means to get there is incomparable. If I met a VC-backed founder we would have almost no common ground, nothing to chit chat about.

A/B tests are the perfect cop-out answer for everything. People who advocate them thrive at big corporations where they can hide for years from making any actual decisions, and just coast on "lets look at the data". In a small company, you need people who make actual decisions.

📣 🐝 Today I'm incredibly proud and happy to announce the ScrapingBee has been acquired by Oxylabs' group. When we started our indie hacker journey with Kevin in 2019, the goal was to reach $10k MRR, to build a life with both freedom and a bit of comfort. It took us years before hitting so-called PMF, after experimenting with various B2C and B2B dubious ideas. In 2020 everything changed, we were lucky enough to get accepted in TinySeed, and thought we finally had something worth focusing on 200% with ScrapingBee. But it was no rocket ship, after a year we hardly reached $8k MRR, and it took us another 15 months to reach $1m ARR. The following 5 years we focused on: - doing the things that work and avoid distractions - keeping the team as small as possible Of course during the journey many mistakes were made, some frightening cease and desists were received (we're a web scraping company after all). But all in all, it was an awesome journey, and it's far from over. And 6 years later, here we are. I can finally announce that ScrapingBee has found a new home. Oxylabs' group is the most renowed web scraping company out there, and we couldn't hope of a better new home for our team and customers. I will keep taking part to the Scrapingbee's journey.
