Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso are not in this race because they are desperate for power. They are contesting because they recognize the urgent need to rescue Nigeria from the brink of economic hardship, insecurity, and hopelessness. Their mission is bigger than politics; it is about rebuilding a nation where every citizen can thrive, where leadership is driven by competence and compassion, and where the future holds promise for the next generation. Nigeria deserves leaders who are committed to service, not self-interest. Obi and Kwankwaso represent a vision of hope, progress, and national renewal. Together, we can save Nigeria and make our country work again. #NigeriaWillBeOK ✌️

This is why serious politics must always return to data, not emotions. Bloomberg simply said what many political analysts already know but some people refuse to admit: Peter Obi did not just run an election in 2023, he balkanized the opposition vote and made Tinubu’s pathway easier. You can love Obi, you can defend Obi, you can insult anyone who says it, but data does not respond to tears. The numbers are there. In key battlegrounds, the opposition vote was split so badly that APC survived with a minority mandate. Tinubu did not win because Nigerians overwhelmingly chose him. Tinubu won because the opposition entered the election divided, sentimental, arrogant, and strategically blind. That is the danger of politics built on emotion instead of structure. Noise is not victory. Hashtags are not polling units. Online popularity is not nationwide spread. A movement can trend every day and still lack the electoral depth to defeat a ruling party. This is why 2027 must not be approached with the same childish fantasy. The opposition must unite behind a candidate with national reach, northern numbers, southern acceptability, political structure, experience, and the capacity to manage a broad coalition. Nigeria cannot afford another emotional experiment. The lesson is simple: data is brutal, and 2023 proved it.

JUST IN: El-Rufai moves to sue Tinubu-aligned newspaper over controversial report Former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has reportedly directed his lawyers to commence defamation proceedings against The Nation newspaper over a publication titled, “El-Rufai’s trial: Gunmen invade principal witness home.” The move signals a fresh escalation in the growing tension between El-Rufai and interests believed to be aligned with the Tinubu political camp. By taking legal action, El-Rufai appears determined to challenge what his camp may consider a damaging, reckless, and politically motivated publication aimed at tarnishing his image before the public. The controversial report has already generated debate, with observers questioning both its timing and the broader motives behind it. For El-Rufai’s supporters, the decision to head to court is being seen as a strong pushback against what they describe as coordinated media attacks designed to discredit him in the court of public opinion. As the matter heads toward possible legal confrontation, attention will now shift to whether The Nation can substantiate the claims contained in the report, or whether the case will further deepen the perception that sections of the media are being deployed for political warfare.

I just finished reading the judgment of the Court of Appeal on the leadership of ADC. Below is the summary of what the Court said. It is this judgment that INEC has relied upon to remove DAVID MARK from its portal. INEC has become a serious THREAT to our democracy. This judgment does not support the decision taken by INEC. The status quo before litigation was the emergence of David Mark and co. With the way INEC is going, only God knows what INEC will offer this country in 2027. Ekemini Udim

HE. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso told his supporters (Kwankwasiyya members) during a meeting he held yesterday at his residence on Miller Road in Kano: 1: The ADC has betrayed him. He accused them of refusing to sign an agreement to allocate a share of political positions to the NNPP in states where NNPP is strong. 2: He said they are planning to leave ADC for another political party because ADC is facing many court cases that the party may not be able to overcome. 3: He revealed that they have reached an understanding with Peter Obi, Bala Mohammed, and Seyi Makinde to join a new political party. 4: He stated that between yesterday and Tuesday, they will officially announce their move to the new party. 5: He said ADC is planning to use direct primaries, which he described as a trap. He added that no party can successfully produce a presidential candidate through direct primaries without internal conflict, disputes, and power struggles. 6: He also said they met with Rotimi Amaechi to discuss whether he would withdraw his presidential ambition so that a candidate could emerge through consensus, but Amaechi refused. According to him, this increases the likelihood of internal crisis within the party. 7: He added that Muhammad Hayatu-Deen has joined ADC and is preparing to run for president under the party. He said it is unlikely that Hayatu-Deen would agree to step down for consensus, meaning direct primaries would become a major problem for the party. 8: He gave the example of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), saying that 12 years after the party conducted direct primaries to select its candidate, the issue is still in court due to internal disputes. 9: He urged all his supporters at local government and state levels to begin preparations to defect from ADC to the new party they will adopt. 10: Finally, he said they have already reached an understanding with Peter Obi to contest under a party that has no court cases. They have also agreed on who will be the presidential candidate and who will be the vice-presidential candidate.

H.E Rotimi Amaechi has said what many Nigerians are already saying quietly in markets, homes, offices, campuses, motor parks, and community gatherings: if the 2027 election is free, fair, and credible, Tinubu may face a serious political battle. Amaechi’s statement is not just ordinary political talk. It reflects the visible mood of the country. Hunger has deepened. Poverty has expanded. Food prices have become a daily punishment. Fuel has become a heavy burden. Electricity remains unreliable for many citizens. Income has not grown at the same speed as the cost of survival. That is why Amaechi believes Tinubu can be defeated with ease in 2027. Not because the opposition has magic, but because the government has handed the opposition its strongest campaign message. Everywhere you go, ordinary Nigerians are asking the same painful question: is this the renewed hope they were promised? Tinubu came with the language of “Renewed Hope”, but for many struggling households, what they feel is renewed hunger, renewed hardship, renewed frustration, and renewed anger. This is no longer just politics. This is about the stomach. And when the stomach is crying, propaganda cannot easily silence it. RFI Hausa interviewed Amaechi as a presidential aspirant, where he explained what he would do if elected in 2027 and argued that hunger and poverty under the current administration have made Tinubu politically vulnerable. His message is simple: the hardship Nigerians are experiencing today may become the strongest force against the ruling party in 2027. ADC must take this message seriously. Opportunities like this do not come often. When citizens are crying, the opposition must become their voice. When citizens are suffering, the opposition must become their pathway. When citizens are tired of excuses, the opposition must present a clear alternative. But Tinubu will not be defeated by noise alone. ADC must build structure, present a credible candidate, unite the North and the South, enter communities, protect votes, and speak in the language ordinary Nigerians understand. The 2027 election will not only be decided by elite speeches. It will be decided by hungry stomachs, empty pockets, unemployed youths, mothers calculating food money, fathers struggling to meet family needs, and citizens who feel abandoned after big campaign promises. If Tinubu has the power of incumbency, ADC has the chance to harness something even stronger: public anger and the desire for change.

Nafiu Bala Steps Into the Senate Conversation as ADC Momentum Builds Now the signal is becoming clearer. The purchase of a Senate nomination form by the Chief of Staff to Nafiu Bala from the David Mark-led ADC is not a casual political move. It is a declaration that the journey has entered another stage. For those who were still waiting for confirmation, the message is now in the open: Nafiu Bala is stepping into the contest on his own strength, his own conviction, and his own political direction. This is how serious ambition begins to separate itself from rumours. In politics, there comes a point when consultation must become action. There comes a point when loyalty to the people must move beyond private discussion and enter the public arena. The purchase of a nomination form is not just paperwork. It is a statement of readiness. It is a signal to supporters, stakeholders, party members, and opponents that a new chapter has opened. And the phrase is important: Nafiu is now on his own. That does not mean isolation. It means independence. It means ownership. It means he is no longer waiting to be carried by anyone’s shadow, structure, or permission. He is now standing before the people with his name, his ambition, his record, his network, and his message. ADC continues to attract aspirants because many Nigerians are searching for something beyond the tired political pattern. They are tired of empty promises, recycled failures, weak representation, and leadership that disappears after elections. Across different states, aspirants are moving into ADC because the party is becoming a platform for those who believe 2027 should not be business as usual. For Nafiu Bala, the real work begins now. The form has been purchased. The signal has been sent. The movement must now translate into consultation, grassroots mobilization, ward-level structure, stakeholder engagement, women and youth participation, voter education, and a clear message that speaks directly to the needs of the people. Politics is not won by announcement alone. It is won by structure. It is won by trust. It is won by presence. Nafiu Bala has taken a step. Now the people will watch what he builds from here.

If this leaked memo is accurate, then the Tinubu government is quietly preparing another burden for Nigerian students and parents. Directing universities to fund lecturers’ allowances through internally generated revenue may sound like administrative reform on paper, but in reality, it is a coded road to higher fees. Universities do not print money. Their IGR mostly comes from students, charges, levies, forms, accommodation, service fees, and other payments pushed back to struggling families. So the real question is simple: who will pay? The answer is obvious. Students will pay. Parents will pay. Poor families will pay. Young Nigerians already battling food inflation, transport costs, rent, data, books, and unemployment will pay. This is how bad governance hides hardship inside technical language. They will not openly say “we are increasing tuition.” They will say “universities should improve internal revenue.” They will say “institutions must become financially sustainable.” They will say “funding responsibility must be shared.” But by the time the policy lands on campuses, it becomes higher school fees, new levies, delayed registration, and more students forced out of school. Education should not become a punishment for the poor. A government that promised Renewed Hope cannot keep renewing hardship in every sector: fuel, electricity, food, transport, and now education. Nigerian families are already stretched beyond limit. Many parents are paying school fees by sacrifice, not convenience. Many students are surviving by chance, not stability. If the government wants better university funding, it should increase serious public investment, cut waste, tackle corruption, expand research grants, and create transparent education financing. It should not push lecturers’ welfare onto the backs of students and then pretend it is reform. Tinubu’s government must understand that a country cannot build the future by pricing young people out of education. When education becomes too expensive for the poor, the nation is not reforming. It is manufacturing inequality.
