#LeadPoisoning #FoodSafety

Japan won Spain and Germany in the group stage of the last World cup. They in fact topped their group. Most Japanese football fans are thinking about tactics right now. Whether Moriyasu trusts the same system that beat England at Wembley four days ago. Whether Kubo will be fit for the Netherlands on June 14. Those are the right questions. But I am not about that. I am about the financial story sitting alongside the football one that almost nobody in Japan's football conversation is talking about. The one most people don’t even know. Let's start with what is actually on the table. FIFA has confirmed a total prize pool of $655 million (approximately ¥97 billion at current rates) for the 2026 World Cup, a 50 percent increase on the $440 million (¥65 billion) distributed at Qatar 2022. Every single one of the 48 participating nations receives $1.5 million (¥220 million) in preparation fees before a ball is kicked. This means that even if Japan lost all three group stage games without scoring once, they would still walk away with $9 million (¥1.3 billion) in prize money. Combined with the preparation fee, the absolute minimum Japan and every other team earns just for showing up is $10.5 million, approximately ¥1.55 billion. Now compare that to what actually happened in Qatar. Japan reached the Round of 16 in 2022, beating Germany and Spain along the way before losing to Croatia on penalties. For that performance, they received $13 million (¥1.9 billion at 2022 rates). In 2026, reaching the same stage pays $15 million (¥2.2 billion). That is a $2 million increase for achieving the exact same result, purely because the prize pool grew. Here is where it gets more interesting for the Samurai Blue specifically. Japan has publicly stated under Moriyasu that their target is to go beyond the Round of 16 for the first time in history. If they reach the quarterfinals, which would be unprecedented, FIFA will be paying $19 million (¥2.8 billion). That is $6 million more than they earned in Qatar, from a single additional round of football. And the quarterfinal payment alone is nearly double the minimum guaranteed to any group stage exit team. The prize money is actually the smallest commercial layer. When Japan beat Spain in 2022, share prices for Japanese sports broadcasters, pub chains and sportswear companies moved upward on the Nikkei stock exchange that same day. That was from a group stage result. A quarterfinal appearance in North America, broadcast to the largest television audience in sports history across prime-time Japanese viewing hours, would multiply the sponsorship leverage the JFA carries into every commercial negotiation for the next four years. Japan is in Group F with the Netherlands, Sweden, and Tunisia. They have beaten Germany twice, Spain, Brazil, and England. The minimum financial return is already guaranteed. Everything beyond the group stage is not just sporting history. It is commercial compounding that the JFA may have never experienced before. The 2026 world cup is huge!!! My name is Ajoje. I wonder if the unnamed person who approved the illicit payments to agents and others at Chelsea is connected to the unnamed person who approved a £35m payment to an unnamed Chelsea director after the sale to BlueCo took place. The 28 page PL decision document, which reviewed 200,000 pieces of evidence, does not name those who signed off on dodgy deals, why the silence?

@LukeBeaumont Calling Swayambhu a monkey temple is wrong. There are many monkeys living in and around the temple, doesn't mean its a monkey temple. Its a Buddhist Stupa, not a temple. You'll find monkeys living in many Nepalese temples. Its because they get easy food there.

BREAKING NEWS: Rowan Atkinson, a legendary icon of comedy, television, and cinema, has left even the world’s richest and most powerful figures stunned—not just with his words, but with decisive action. At a glamorous red-carpet gala in Los Angeles on December 20, attended by film moguls, tech billionaires, and Hollywood’s most elite stars, Rowan Atkinson took the stage to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award. But instead of offering a conventional acceptance speech, he chose a moment of truth—direct, fearless, and deeply human. He did not thank the Academy. He did not reminisce about Mr. Bean, Blackadder, or decades of global laughter. Instead, Atkinson looked straight into the audience of wealth and influence and declared: “We sit here surrounded by diamonds and artistic glory while the world outside is falling apart. If your voice can move millions and you choose not to use it for those who have no voice, then you are not creating change—you are creating noise.” The room fell into complete silence. Film executives and invited guests sat motionless, struck by the weight of his words. He continued, unwavering: “If you have more than you need, it no longer belongs only to you. Your responsibility is to lift up those who are still beneath you.” And he did not stop at words. That very night, Atkinson announced that all profits from his archived works and future creative projects—estimated at 160 million USD—will be donated to fund children’s health initiatives, climate action programs, and arts education for underprivileged youth. His message was unmistakable: “Legacy is not built on what you earn. It is built on what you give.” In an era when celebrities are often dismissed as hollow symbols, Rowan Atkinson delivered a powerful reminder to the world: true impact is not created by applause, but by easing the suffering of others.
