Additional Chief Secretary Sumita Misra says, “For the first time in Haryana, we are conducting an on-ground mock drill of this kind. These mock drills are focused on flood preparedness, as we saw the impact of floods in Haryana in 2023 and 2025, which caused significant damage in many areas. Ahead of the upcoming monsoon season, this exercise is being conducted to assess how we will respond to and manage such incidents. Today, a mock drill is being carried out in 13 districts, and it has been planned with extensive preparation. On May 6, we held an orientation conference with all stakeholders. On May 12, we conducted a table-top exercise where it was explained that two locations would be selected in each district and given different scenarios. Each department had to prepare its response plan, including what the police, health department, revenue department, and irrigation department would do. Around 14 to 15 departments are involved in this exercise, including the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Aapda Mitra volunteers, NCC, and Nehru Yuva Kendra. Today, the actual field exercise is underway, and it is being monitored live from the State Emergency Response Centre...”
