Today marks 20 years since the 7/7 bombings struck London. On that day, 52 people were killed, with many more injured. We remember all those who lost their lives and were – and continue to be – impacted by the events of that day. bma.org.uk/news-and-opini…

7/7/2005: thinking about 20 years ago today: evacuated from our office in King’s Cross station when I was doing summer work with my Dad’s company, and still always thankful that we always got the early train so were not on that tube that day.

I am a palliative care doctor who is not opposed to AD. But on the eve of tomorrow's vote, it boils down to this. Enshrining in law a state-funded right to die, while not enshrine a similar right to the palliative care that might make life worth living, is deeply wrong. 🧵

As Parliament plans to debate Assisted Dying, it's important to be absolutely certain that avoidable suffering can be managed promptly, with expertise & compassion. This is necessary whatever we think about AD. But *choice means having reliable options at all times. 1/
Kathryn Mannix@drkathrynmannix

Sometimes, people living their dying at home need injectable meds to keep their symptoms well controlled. Access to the medications, the kit or the right professionals isn't always straightforward. Can you help @Ben_Bowers__ & team by sharing your good/bad/other experience?

But what if the suffering that drives some people into finding life unbearable is avoidable, unnecessary suffering? Suffering that could & would be alleviated - if only UK palliative care services weren’t a threadbare patchwork of appallingly underfunded inadequacy? 1/3
