All-in-all, I'm very grateful to be included as part of this great piece of research, using data from the Rothamsted time series (lnkd.in/dCqFds5d).

Currently out as a pre-proof in Environmental Pollution, this research adds great value to the existing body of microplastics research, and to future studies, monitoring and modelling efforts 🔬

New research, led by a group of fantastic researchers, forecasts an exponential increase of microplastic concentrations in agricultural soils over time - including predictions that microplastics could reach 0.67 % w/w by 2122 under business-as-usual scenarios...📈 🧵

@eRA_Curator @newscientist Hi Sarah, I would expect that the plastics would come from all three, and many other sources - although the ones you’ve suggest make the most sense! Current research seems to suggest that airborne plastics (wind-blown, rain, settling, etc.) are a substantial contributor…
