Trump is unreliable and Ukraine will never get enough Patriot batteries or PAC interceptors. It should be obvious to Europeans: if we care about Ukraine, we need to order 10+ SAMP/T NG batteries and 1,000+ Aster interceptors. If we don’t do it, we simply don’t care

Jurgen, I tried to speak of this and no one seemed interested. It was seemingly a done deal. Ukraine was gonna give the US drone technology and even turned over 2000 F10 attack drones to the US. They were going to help build this plant in Ohio and give the US 21st century drone technology. In exchange, Ukraine was to get the technology on building patriots. Also, the US was to give some Patriots now the bridge the gap between when Ukraine was able to build their own. A 90 minute phone call with Putin it was all it took to throw a wrench in this whole deal. I certainly hope Ukraine doesn’t give any drone technology to the Trump administration.

Those to whom you transfer technology could later turn against you. That is possible. – Trump on granting Ukraine permission to produce Patriot missiles. We must be very careful when it comes to allowing anyone to manufacture our modern weapons. Transferring such technology is no simple matter. Trump was Putin’s whore and always will be.

Ian Brzezinski: Putin is beginning to feel internal pressure because of his war. Russian polling indicates growing frustration. He's having problems on the front. His war economy is being hit hard by Ukrainian long-range strikes. Russian war bloggers beginning to turn on him, expressing concern about performance of and support for Russian forces. They're even indicating they're worried about what may happen this winter if Ukraine continues to have success in their long-range strikes. Putin is very focused on what Trump is doing, and is probably worried that there may actually be a shift in Trump's support for Ukraine. But again, I have to point out that Trump's expression has been verbal. It has yet to translate into actual policy actions.

Mearsheimer says russia will hold all of Donbas by year’s end. How can an educated person be so ignorant? First, being educated and being smart are two very different things. Mearsheimer is educated, but he certainly is not smart. Second, a smart person would learn from their own mistakes. Mearsheimer doesn’t. He has been making versions of this prediction for four years. In February 2024, he told Global Times - a Chinese state outlet, which tells you something about the audience he prefers - that the actual fighting would not last beyond 2025, that russia would take more territory, and that there would be a ceasefire. It is now July 2026, and he still hasn’t learned his lesson. Third, Mearsheimer knows nothing about Ukraine or the Ukrainian people. I doubt he has ever even visited Ukraine in his life. This matters because wars are won by people, not by terrain. Terrain does not hold Slovyansk for four years. When your model has no variable for a people’s will, you don’t make occasional mistakes - you make the same mistake every time. Finally, people like Mearsheimer should be held accountable for their predictions. Mark the date. Check it again in December to see whether his claim still holds: “russia will control all of Donbas by year’s end.” If not, then Mearsheimer is just another brainwashed vatnik masquerading as an expert. My bet is on vatnik.
