I’m Sam Forstag - I’m a smokejumper, a union leader, and I’m running for Congress because for too long, Montanans have been breaking their backs just to fall further behind. Together, we can build an economy that works for working people.

Less than two years ago, Montanans voted resoundingly to protect our right to access abortion care under the state constitution. A decision like this is an attack on all of our freedom, and our right to medical privacy. We deserve better, and we won’t let them get away with it.

Laws and rules like this help no one, and ONLY serve to make abortions more dangerous. People living in rural areas, Americans living under abortion bans, and working people who can’t take time away from work without risking their jobs will bear the brunt of this.

This ruling is a terrible blow to abortion access, reproductive rights, and peoples’ ability to make their own private medical decisions safely. This decision to restrict telemedicine access will have dangerous effects on abortion and miscarriage care across the country.

We must stand with them and through this strike, as neighbors, fellow workers, and Montanans who know we all deserve better. Our neighbors in King Arthur & Mountain Meadows need solidarity.

When they come after one of us, they come after all of us. Today, the residents of King Arthur Park and Mountain Meadows are facing a devastating blow — yet another rent hike on some of the last affordable housing left in Gallatin County. That’s a blow to them, and to all of us.

Between fire seasons, I spent years organizing with the groups like the ACLU of Montana against Christi Jacobsen’s attempts to make it harder for Montanans to vote. That fight just got harder. It also got more important.

Today the Supreme Court gutted the heart of the Voting Rights Act. For 60 years, this law has been a tool to help protect our most fundamental right as citizens. Here in Montana, the Chippewa Cree of Rocky Boy’s just relied on this law to secure a shot at representation

I've spent years on wildland fire crews. They deserve elected leaders who take the climate crisis seriously and a Congress that actually funds the people protecting our public lands. Thinking of the crews out there this week, and the families who were affected.

Today, April 22, is Earth Day and wildland firefighters are already deploying in Montana. The East Side Fire near Red Lodge is burning 1,200+ acres and 185 homes were evacuated...in April. Fire seasons that used to start in July are starting now.

We're building a coalition of working people, unions, & Montanans of all stripes who still care about the Constitution & the future of this country, including 30+ MT leaders from both parties. That's how we win. Not by tearing each other down, but with a clear, positive vision.
