It's just in the past few years that Grand Forks has really, truly started to move past the Flood of 1997. And in the meantime, its star has faded. That doesn't justify anything the city is doing, but I think it does help explain it.

I'm old enough to remember when a journalist doing his job meant digging into details, afflicting the powerful, and finding the truth.
As of right now, the Herald has done more investigative research on me than it has on Fufeng.
Why might that be?

I cannot stress enough how open-minded I am to any evidence that Fufeng Group will engage in espionage, or any arguments that this plant poses a trade/ethical concern. I have given those ideas their fair hearing, and will continue to do so!

The Herald has dutifully repeated false talking points from city officials and Fufeng personnel numerous times, performed very little actual investigative work, and provided the city a platform to smear opponents of the project. Don't break your arm patting yourself on the back.
