Savage Dragon was such a bombastic comic, the first 25 issues was just the Dragon busting nuts and shooting guns. Love revisiting this on occasion.

@pipelinecomics It really sucks that even a fraction of billions of dollars they bring in cant help the workers who made the companies who they are today.

@SamKiethArt I think it's more the firewall between editorial and financial. I'm sure lots of people in editorial would like to help the creators, but they're the low rung on the corporate ladder.

The cynic in me thinks this is just a corporation going through the motions when a creator passes when they could help so many people who made them the company they are today but the other side hopes the interns who run these big accounts actually mean what they say.

Sam Kieth’s cover to DARKER IMAGE #1! Darker Image #1 was designed to showcase the debut of 3 new characters in 3 separate stories by Jim Lee, myself and Sam Kieth. It was your first introduction to Deathblow, Bloodwulf and The Maxx. Jim and I were excited to share the stage with Sam as we were tremendous fans of all the he had done at Marvel & DC. Sam was game to join our little showcase and he provided such a stunning cover that neither Jim or I figured we needed to offer variants of our own. This was Sam’s official debut with Image. Jim and I would almost always have covers for #1 issues that we participated in but once I saw Sam’s and Jim saw it, we figured that we didn’t need to contribute. This was more than enough. Darker Image #1 debuted in Jan. 1993 a whopping 1 million copies. With one single cover by Sam. It’s a great book and the fun we each had jumps out from every story. Proud to have shared this experience. Why no Darker Image #2 you ask? Because audience reaction to each character was so positive that each received his own series as a result. Fun, fun memories. Rest In Peace, Sam Kieth!

Erik Larsen shared these recently after Sam's passing, it was a backup story to Savage Dragon 100 but Sam had to pull out. Erik shared the work that Sam was able to complete on his FB page

Absolutely shocked and gutted by this news. Sam was one of a kind and he will be truly missed. Fuck.

Also This will be the 4th time I try to read Spawn, this time it will be different.
