I do firmly believe that Burnham is Labour's best (and possibly only realistic) hope of turning things around with the electorate. He's done a great job in Manchester. Fingers crossed for a successful by-election 🤞

As ever in UK politics, feels like it's been a rough night for anyone vaguely Left leaning. Labour look like the big loser tonight, with Reform making huge gains (though Greens seem to be doing well). One can only hope Reform's shambolic work in local gov hurts their GE chances

So funny story... I trekked like an hour to go watch this show just to find out they had MOVED IT FORWARD AN HOUR AT ZERO NOTICE and it had already happened. Truly the most China way to end a trip - miscommunication and arbitrary decision-making

I like China, and I am a fan of the Chinese theme park scene. However, I am truly, utterly sick of every other kid I pass at one of these parks commenting on the "waigouren" (sometimes whispering to friends, sometimes shouted in my face) like I'm some kind of zoo animal.

I get that I stand out as a somewhat tall white guy travelling alone. I am more than happy to have a little convo over a translator app, or for people to practice their English with me. But the dehumanisation is genuinely starting to put me off doing some of these parks

Learned today while speaking to @LutfurRahmanTH that Tower Hamlets (population 320k) has a larger GDP than Manchester (population 640k).
London is just so enormous in the country’s economic and political life. I’m constantly surprised with facts like that. Even now!
