@jvitak This has been around for a while in other designs. I actually had to wear something similar in high school; I had jaw surgery and I need to have my jaw wired shut while the bones healed. They just warp rubber bands around my braces.

A lot of PhDs approach me b/c they want to work for themselves. They hope (and assume) that self-employment = work/life balance. I work 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. M-F and 8-10 hrs on the weekend. I haven't had a day off since March 21st. A 9-5 job is way better for work/life balance.

I wrote about this 3 years ago and the conclusion hasn’t changed: women are delaying motherhood because our society gives absolutely no indication of providing support/that motherhood will be worth it, and guess what, they ain’t wrong
