The only defender I've been really impressed with this season in Ligue 1 is Gabriel from Lille. Brazilian center back, tall and powerful, still young. Could he be the one?

Gabriel pulls out of the Brazil squad with a knee injury, joining William Saliba who will not be linking up with France. Trossard has dropped out of the Belgium squad. Odegaard and Timber also not linking up with their national teams as they work on their fitness over the break. Eze out of the England squad.

@SamW_AFC So why didn't calafiori come on earlier? We all know he's never going to use MLS in the middle and is reluctant to play him as LB so why not bring on calafiori? When eze and øodegard are absent he's the solution to playing from the back. The solution was clear to everyone but him

Our build up has been shit since Lewis-Skelly has come out of the side. Arteta's whole system was based on that inverting left back role making penetrative passes.

@aliladiere It's just baffling. He's looked a bit dodgy defensively this season but he's hardly played. Not even trying him in midfield when his profile is exactly what we like is mind-boggling.

We had a flawless record in the UCL with MLS playing at LB btw. We were better at progressing the ball, and he was breaking lines with his passes coming into midfield. I cannot believe the guy hasn’t been given a chance.

And I'll say it again but not playing Lewis-Skelly in midfield when he's our only proper ball carrier who can make penetrative runs and passes is just baffling.

Look at City, PSG, Bayern or Barcelona's wingers. Then compare with what we have. I think Saka will find his form again but signing a technical left winger should be the absolute priority this summer.

Yep, second goal is 100% Saka's fault. Zero awareness + laziness to defend.

What Saka has done here is synonymous to Kepa’s error too. There was an angle I saw on SKY, but I’ve not been able to find it on X. Saka sees Nico coming obviously. Nico kept crawling behind, but Saka’s awareness is poor. Lost his man so easily.

City didn't even press us yesterday. They let our centre backs have the ball and just waited for them to lose it as they blocked our midfield, meaning we didn't have any other solution than to hoof it towards Havertz or Gyökeres.

The technical level of this Arsenal team is simply not good enough, especially without Eze and Ødegaard. Add to that the fact Trossard and Saka can't go past defenders and the type of players we need to buy is fairly obvious.

Genius from Pep tbh. Set up a wall to prevent us playing into Rice/Zubimendi and forced us to go long to Gyokeres who couldn’t win a header to save his life. Led to constant pressure and eventually it told
