@RasmusJarlov if you had been elected Mayor in the recent Roskilde election would you not be Chairman of Danish Defence Committee in Folketinget? Or could/ would you have done both?

@garyseconomics have you been following Michael W Green's 3 part series on fixing the US via a series of "tax wealth not work" proposals?
Would be curious to hear your thoughts - seems like crossover with your world view

@WillRead Good read! Curious what your thoughts are regarding charging for PoCs
E.g.
+ it becomes a way to get a foot-in-the-door vs "the big deal" and creates a sunk cost that (potentially) means there's a desire to convert
- even more unnecessary friction/ distraction early on

Potty Training GPT
Asking ChatGPT "What would Dr Becky suggest..." based on an uploaded @GoodInside PDF of potty training advice has been immensely helpful this weekend
@jodie_cook - are there many Coachvox parenting coaches?!

@robdix Awesome @robdix! I particularly like the "creative tension" that comes from the presenters of @RestIsPolitics + @TheRestHistory - have you + Rob consciously thought about this?

After 11 years, our podcast needed a refresh. Here are 5 key changes that breathed new life into our show:
1: Cut the fluff
We were ambling into episodes with a load of announcements and throat-clearing. Not great for hooking listeners.
Our challenge: hit the main content within 60 seconds. Result? The last two episodes I checked clocked in at 58 seconds. It launches listeners into the show with real momentum.
2: Beef up the length
Over time, some episodes had dipped to less than 15 minutes.
As a podcast listener, I often skip short episodes: too short for a commute, too brief to promise real value.
Our new rule: 20 minutes, minimum. It forces us to dig deeper and offer more substance.
Adding length also comes from being more conversational. No more rattling off "5 things you need to know about [X]" lists – those belong elsewhere. Speaking of which…
3: Inject personality
People love podcasts for that "hanging out with friends" vibe. So we ditched "presenter mode”: we’re not podcast hosts, we’re your friends having a chat while you listen in.
Now we interject with silly comments, cut each other off, make noises of agreement… everything that happens in a normal conversation.
Sometimes (OK, often) it doesn’t work and our producer has to rescue it in the edit – but when it works, the show comes alive.
4: Cut the ads
We experimented with 30-second mid-roll ads for our services. The result? Crickets. No uptick in enquiries at all.
So we axed them. Now we stick to casual, contextual mentions. Just as effective, way less intrusive.
5: Make the listener the hero
"Community" might be a buzzword, but it matters. We now end each episode with a quick shout-out to a listener who's achieved something impressive. It reminds everyone they're part of something bigger.
The impact? It's tough to measure in downloads, but as podcast junkies ourselves, we hear the difference. It's objectively a better show.
More importantly? We're genuinely excited again. In podcasting, that enthusiasm is contagious – and it's a metric worth chasing.

@thesamparr Of course. Consider this as one of many proof points to keep running the pod!

So much fluff and repetitiveness in most podcasts today.
Whatever @thesamparr is doing with MoneyWise, I want more of it!
Efficient, straightforward, entertaining and actionable.
Listened to the entire set of episodes these past few days.

@thesamparr @desertislandtom won the UK version of this. His write up of the experience is fascinating (especially oral hygiene 😅)

Not sure their living conditions. But I assume most modern things were removed.
No excess food, processed foods, gyms, huge running shoes, fancy beds, phones.
And look how much healthier they look!

@KevinEspiritu Love the concept, though how defensible do you think it as a business?
Doesn't seem like there's much opportunity for multiple purchases even after an initial successful experience which would mean, after CAC, the (ahem) lifetime value of each customer would be fairly capped?

Amazed that my talk at @Wharton on The Art of Product Management now has over 445,000 views! I still get notes every week from new viewers like this:
"I can't thank you enough for shaping my knowledge, awareness as well as helping me craft my product management skills. Your video on Wharton School 7 years back changed every aspect of how I'm doing product management now. Thank you!!!"
If you haven't seen it yet, I distill the role of product management into driving the vision, strategy, design, and execution for a product. I then deep dive into each of these four dimensions and share what great looks like.
Check it out if you'd like to hear my perspective on what product management is really all about! youtube.com/watch?v=huTSPa…

It makes me sad that WhatsApp looks to be going from legitimate person-person communication to becoming a "business channel" a la email.
Or maybe I'm being too pessimistic? Is it different?
Sasha Kaletsky@SashaKaletsky
We have invested in two businesses built on WhatsApp. They are both growing very fast. One of them is weeks away from reaching $1m ARR, and the other recently broke through $10m. We want more! Building on WhatsApp is a core theme our fund, so my DMs are open if this is you.
