I’m familiar with Tommy Robinson’s scrapes with the law going back more than a decade. And I’ve confirmed today: he’s never been accused of “violence against women”, let alone charged or convicted of it. If the case against Tommy is so strong, why exaggerate and defame? Why does Nigel feel the need to constantly attack Tommy, so performatively? Tommy has never asked to join the Reform party. I think the answer is what I said in an earlier tweet: Nigel is trying to be as showy as possible in his denunciation of Tommy, in the hopes of impressing the regime media, so that they don’t label Nigel himself as a Bad Man: x.com/ezralevant/sta… The problem is, in this case it’s factually false. But more than that, thousands of Tommy fans — who are strong Reform supporters — know Nigel’s attack here is false and unfair. He’s demoralizing his own voters more than he’s winning over the establishment. I went to Clacton, Nigel’s district, on election night and spent eight hours waiting for the votes to be counted, chatting with the local Reform activists. This was right after Tommy had been arrested (and then freed without condition) in Canada, and many of them wanted to talk to me about that whole adventure. I didn’t meet a single Nigel supporter in Clacton who wasn’t also a Tommy fan. I assumed I’d be an anonymous foreigner there, but many of them knew me because of my association with Tommy, which tells me they follow him pretty carefully. Tommy’s supporters ARE Nigel’s supporters, or at least they want to be. Nigel doesn’t have to do or say anything in return other than just stay strong on the issues. It’s weird to see him feel the need to essentially call a large part of his own base “deplorables”.
