Morning all. Hot again here today & it’s even warmer with the ovens on. Still I’ve made a lovely focaccia loaf, one of my daughter’s favourites. Picking her up from the station later & Ted is very excited. He loves when she visits. ATM he’s staring longingly at the front door.

Busy day today getting ready for my daughter arriving tomorrow. Ted is furious that I’ve emptied his paddling pool, water used on plants, so it can be refilled tomorrow. The dahlias are loving all the sunshine. This one is American Dawn.

If I’m honest, I’m not a huge fan of variegated roses but Rosa Ferdinand Pichard is a beauty. A repeat flowering rose, it has richly scented blooms.

Getting around to the house plants & Angus, my fab stag horn fern is having some tlc, Shower, brush up & sunshine

@canthelpmenow7 Gosh Jayne, I do feel for you. You mentioned that nobody can help- not sure where you are, but if in England, you can self-refer to get some support. You don't need a GP referral. Although I was very sceptical, I did find it very helpful.

I try not to be gloomy on here, my daughter died, nobody can help and I don't have the words to describe the grief. But, christ on a bike, this week has been hard. It's my grandson's last days at primary. We went to his school play last night and I did quite well holding onto the emotion. But he was an 11 year old little boy and his mum wasn't there in the audience, and that's fucking horrible. On Tuesday next week we are going to his leavers assembly. Again, something his mum should be here for. The tragedy of it all... it's just too fucking much

Just made my first vegan version of Bakewell tart (blackcurrant instead of raspberry as I’d made blackcurrant jam). Fingers crossed it turns out ok. My daughter is dairy intolerant, hence this attempt. 🤞🏻

Morning all. Another scorcher today. Tried to do some maintenance on the tomato plants in the greenhouse & sun bubble but it’s got too hot. The bees are out in force, enjoying the pond & nearby borage plants. Have a super day everyone 😊

@gmortonclassics You're so right Grace, they taste so much nicer. I have a very large mature tree which for the last few years has produced lots of figs. I'm hoping this year will be similar.

@Sam_SSSLearning Figs straight off the tree are a completely different thing to shop-bought. Had them in Italy once, nothing's come close since. Lucky you.

Just picked the first fig which will be stuffed with goats cheese for supper

Blackcurrant Bakewell update. Pleased to say it is absolutely delicious. Vegan pastry (also first attempt at making) & filling perfect. Happy as I didn’t have a recipe, just tried adapting a non vegan one. Now all that’s left to do is try not to eat it before my daughter arrives
