RIDICULOUS! Republican House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan has referred former Special Counsel Jack Smith to the Justice Department for criminal prosecution, accusing him of perjury during his sworn testimony before Congress. Jordan claims Smith made “willfully and intentionally false statements of material fact” when questioned last December about efforts to obtain the phone records of 44 lawmakers who communicated with Trump and his team, writing: “The responses provided by Mr. Smith gave the impression that neither Mr. Smith nor his team had access to the content of members’ privileged text messages. We now know this to be false.” Rep. Jamie Raskin accused Jordan of misrepresenting the facts. He said Smith never subpoenaed lawmakers’ text messages. Instead, the National Archives turned over White House records that included conversations with 44 members of Congress because those records were legally required to be preserved.
