Disrespectful Attendants & Doctors ~ A Thread
As a doctor, I have always believed in giving my patients my full attention, care, and compassion. I go crazy and out of my way to help—often carrying lancets, and RBS strips of my own money in my pocket 24/7 in case resources become unavailable. Those who have worked with me know how deeply I invest in my patients' well-being
However, for the first time in my career, I had to make a difficult decision. I received a patient with "MI ē atrial fibrillation leading to cardiogenic shock". He was about to expire. God knows how I managed the case, stabilized him, and finally he regained consciousness with improved vitals and then he survived
Initially, the attendants were quiet and intimidated by the uncertainty of consequences (like if their patient can make it), but when they saw their patient got stable with no more impending life threatening emergency, their behavior turned out to be highly inappropriate.
Despite repeated requests, they continued mocking/trolling/joking, creating disturbance, and showing disrespect to the doctor in the middle of the ward in front of all patients. The disrespect literally knew no bounds. This led to a complete breakdown of the therapeutic relationship, and I had to formally withdraw from the case and arrange transfer of care. It was my first withdrawal
This incident highlights a growing concern. With the rise of social media access, individuals (especially those who are often illiterate) pull out their smartphones and start recording doctors, staff, documents, and ward environments without consent which is not only unethical but also a serious breach of privacy and professionalism.
I want to emphasize:
"Doctors have the right to a respectful working environment"
Treatment requires mutual trust and cooperation. If that trust is broken—due to harassment, interference, or privacy violations—a doctor is within their rights to withdraw, provided continuity of care is ensured.
To address such situations, I have prepared a formal physician withdrawal and transfer-of-care form, which I will use—from now onward—when necessary. From now on, I will NOT tolerate even any slightest abuse, breach of privacy, relationship breakdown or interference with care! This stupidity needs to end NOW!
This is not about refusing care—it is about maintaining dignity, safety, and professional boundaries.
To my fellow doctors:
Know your rights. Know where to say yes, and where you can easily say no, within legal and ethical limits.
If any one records any video, he's liable to FIR under section 186, 353, 500, 506, 509, 403, 406 (Pakistan Penal Code) and Section 3, 4, 20, 21, 24 (Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act). He can only record his own face and that's it. Call security, inform Admin and let them handle the rest
To patients and attendants:
Respect your healthcare providers. We are here to help—but respect and trust must go both ways
The idea is to provide basic education to doctors and let them know about their own rights. Just like a patient has the right to be treated well, a doctor has also the right to withdraw himself (within legal and ethical limits) and transfer the care to another doctor
These all new young doctors are completely different. They all are more intelligent, energetic, hardworking, passionate, and willing-to-work people. Please trust them and let them do their job!

Just a reminder that 'it is prohibited to take pictures in hospital ' as well but govt is making terminations on the basis of those pics instead of taking action against pic taker

@CMComplaintCell Terminating without investigation is nothing but barbaric for Doctors who have studied hard for years.

Action has been taken. Dr. Zohaib Hassan, House Surgeon in the Orthopaedic Department, has been terminated due to inappropriate mobile phone use during duty hours and misbehave with a patient.

@sharozz_ Long case main chatgpt se puchnay wala kch ni hota... It's the viva you need to prepare... Long case to pt dependant hota ha history, examination all....
English

@rooneyarchiive they weren't preparing viva
They were standing on their long case stations writing their answers on their sheets
English

preparing for your viva one last time before you go in for it is forbidden now?? did you see them using chatgpt while answering the examiner? if no, the argument is null and void.
about the pgr thing, maybe ask your seniors to help too instead of being salty
🇵🇸 شروز@sharozz_
Saw private medical clg students in our ward using chat gpt in their final year viva, also pgr accompanying them was asking them again and again if they wanted to ask anything about their case before viva!!! It's disheartening to see such discrepancies in a professional
