Thai shelling continued in Poipet yesterday, as an emergency ASEAN foreign ministers’ meeting failed to halt the fighting. Poipet has become a focal point not only of military activity, but of competing narratives. Cambodian reporting describes civilian buildings being hit. Thai media claim some of those same buildings were being used by Cambodian forces as firing or defensive positions, including allegations that they housed snipers, anti-drone systems, or scam operations. In that framing, civilian harm is attributed to the use of human shields or militarized civilian structures. This has been the pattern throughout the December fighting. Each strike is followed by dueling explanations. Each side insists it is acting defensively. Independent verification is limited, access is constrained, and claims often circulate faster than facts.

ASEAN diplomacy tested as Thai attacks continue despite special ministers’ meeting in Malaysia The credibility of ASEAN’s conflict-management role came under sharp scrutiny on Tuesday, December 23, as Thai military forces continued shelling Cambodian territory and civilian areas, even as regional foreign ministers convened a Special ASEAN Ministers’ Meeting in Malaysia aimed at easing tensions. Amazing teamwork! Painting is healing! ❤️‍🩹 This painting depicts the suffering of Cambodian people caused by the Thai invasion. History is writing a new chapter of wounds and unforgettable pain. This pain will remain forever etched in the hearts of Cambodians for generations to come!

A Hindu deity’s statue was destroyed by Thailand’s army, placed by Cambodia. Both are Buddhist nations with a history of Hindu ancestors are now converting ancient Hindu temples into Buddha viharas. Shameful, Hindus even revere Buddha as an avatar of Vishnu and pay God Buddha too

[Op-Ed] Thailand’s Foreign Minister says Cambodia must “talk to everyone” about a ceasefire and claims Thailand has never received a ceasefire proposal. This statement is not confusion. It is political deflection. Full story: phnompenhpost.com/opinion/who-is…

A monument to a Hindu deity installed by Cambodia was torn down by Thailand’s army Not a dismantling — more like a straight kick up the backside. Only instead of a foot, it was an excavator. The irony is brutal. Both countries are Buddhist with deep Hindu roots. Hindus revere the Buddha as an avatar of Vishnu. And the response to this shared heritage? A metal bucket to the ass.

As of 12:00 a.m., December 22, 2025, Thailand has conducted 23 airstrikes on Cambodia, destroying military targets and civilian infrastructure, including primary schools, pagodas, and bridges (bombings listed below). The Thai airstrikes are unanswered. Cambodia does not have its own fighter aircraft or any surface-to-air defenses. The conflict has resulted in the displacement of 518,611 Cambodians.(1) Thailand also reports 213,072 people displaced out of precaution from Cambodian artillery fire.(2) Khmer people are suffering. The Thai provinces along the border are populated by Khmer people, such as Surin province, which is estimated to be at least 63% Khmer.(3) Thailand agreed to an unconditional ceasefire on July 28, 2025, pressured by U.S. President Trump. President Trump oversaw the signing of the Kuala Lumpur Peace Accord by Thai Prime Minister Anutin and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet on October 26, 2025. However, on November 10, 2025, Thai Prime Minister Anutin announced that Thailand was suspending the peace accord.(4,5) Anutin’s public reason for cancelling the peace accord was that four Thai soldiers were injured by a landmine on a jungle path in disputed territory on November 10, 2025.(6) However, Anutin is influenced by political calculus. Anutin, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party (“Thai Pride Party”) became prime minister on September 5, 2025, with the help of the much larger People’s Power Party which called for a referendum on the constitution to shift power from the unelected Senate. Anutin falsely agreed to support a referendum as October 1, 2025.(7) Anutin’s November 10 cancellation of peace accord occurred only after he was aware that he would face an election. On November 5, 2025, Anutin himself stated “If we can’t win the political game, we’ll dissolve the House”.(8) Early elections became even more certain for Anutin on November 9, 2025, when the People’s Party demanded an extraordinary session for constitutional amendment, rejected by Anutin.(9) Adding to Anutin's desperation, his approval rating dropped from 48% to only 23% following the slow response to floods in Southern Thailand from November 21-24.(10) The commencement of war with Cambodia on December 7, 2025, strategically positioned Anutin for reelection ahead of the dissolution of parliament on December 12, 2025.
