I loved seeing Joe grow as a coach. I loved seeing him and Jaylen working together to get the best out of this team. The season didn’t end as a lot of people had hoped. But I enjoyed every single game I went to. Every time I walked into TD Garden I knew I was going to see a team

So you know what?!?! This Celtics was my favorite season too!! It was my favorite because we got to see some new guys who busted their asses to play and win. We saw a superstar player step into a larger role as a leader and took it upon himself to be the best leader he could be

@Samothecat @holl6948 Its bizarre sure but I think Brad looks at it fundamentally differently. There's value in both paths. He created a larger tpe he can use while also setting up another route for repeaters tax. It'll be interesting to see what he does. Im not convinced it needs to be Giannis

Fans don't realize this either. The Celtics front office is faced with a tough road and a series of bad options.
They can't just spend their way to another contender. Not for another year, anyway.

I never called the season a success, just refused to deem it a failure, and noted the Cs have a proven history of elite player development, which can serve as a path to improving the roster outside of overreacting. But please, what would you do?

That is very unlikely to happen.
Resetting the repeater is a big deal. Cutting to get just under the tax, then not staying under the next year would be extremely bizarre.

Also loses some leverage as teams know ur objective is to make a trade. Losing versatility hurts in trade negotiations.

The team then had to do serious roster gymnastics to stay juuuuust under.
So yes, I deduce from his words and actions that is the plan. 🤣

Who is to say that wasn't the primary factor in the trade? Getting a larger tpe is huge.

@holl6948 @Samothecat They used it for Vucevic this year to get under the lux tax and create a larger tpe (22 mill to 27.8 mill). You dont see TPEs usually large enough to acquire an all star.

@Samothecat lol people don’t realize they are trying to stay under the tax which means any player acquisition will either be a salary shedding/matching trade or in the draft.
