Genuinely, the patience to wait for great trades isn’t easy to come by. If you crave action, you’ll find a way to justify taking almost anything.
I’d like to pretend I honed this discipline over years of work on myself… but that’s largely bs. I have patience because I don’t particularly enjoy this job and don’t wake up wanting to trade.
Each day I look at the markets and ask two questions:
“Is there anything so good I’d feel like a fucking idiot not taking it?”
“If I take this at X with a stop at Y, will I be gobsmacked if I’m stopped out?”
If yes to both, I take the trade. If not, I pass.
It’s important to me that no one takes my fucking money easily.

Longing the timed retracement leg and reversing short for the anticipated drop.
Limiting the risk exposure before FOMC data release and going for a walk.
Pay the trader when it makes sense to do so.

I’d rather be wrong shorting from 75K–80K than be wrong longing from 123K down to 60K.
It’s a quiet truth about the game.
You can be right ten times in a row, trade impeccably for a year straight, and still find that people remember only the one time you wrong.
Unlike so many here, I keep both my wins and my losses fully public. I don’t hide when I’m wrong, even though roughly 95% of this space seems to do exactly that.
Yes, I am still short but it’s not looking good.
