I’m sitting on a plane over the Atlantic Ocean, suppressing tears so my husband doesn’t wake up. My heart is content and my joy is full. Dozens of family and friends flew into Nigeria to celebrate our traditional wedding with us and hundreds of our favorite people showed up to our ceremony. From our late night suya runs to our sunset cruise along the Lagos Lagoon to the hustle and bustle of nails, hair and outfits, and finally to our celebration of Edo, Yoruba and Igbo, I had the most incredible wedding week. I am fully anchored in my community and I am thankful. I’ve never walked alone and never will. I’ve never fallen on hard ground and never will. Cheers to the first day of the rest of our lives 🥰
