How cool is this dragonfly made from recycled utensils! The creativity of some people is amazing. My students would love these creatures! I wonder what wildlife I could create with my utensils at home. Would you try make one of these? @SamuelGannon7 #EDUC4750 #UoNTeach #SDG12

@MrHansen96 @ACARAeduau That sounds great as personal and social capability and critical and creative capability can go hand in hand. Is there a similar document for all the general capabilities or is it just for critical and creative thinking?

@CharltonLee2069 Thanks for sharing the ICT resource on the garbage patch. The garbage patch is a great issue to include when looking at plastic pollution and #SDG14.

I had the same experience when exploring my school's local beach. Exploring an issue the students' community is facing provides ways to embrace students' knowledges, beliefs, experiences and community assets. Is your school's community facing your topic? #EDUC4750 #UoNTeach

This is a photo I captured of rubbish I collected on Birubi Beach. Im planning a beach clean up during my unit and this highlights the importance of #SDG14 for them as it impacts their lives directly due to being a coastal town. #EDUC4750 #UoNTeach

@JaydenGodwin99 That is an excellent activity I can use in my unit on #SDG14 as students can use plastic they collect from the community to make sculptures and then sell them to donate money to organisations like Plastic Free Port Stephens.

What an excellent source of lessons and project ideas on #SDG14 and plastic pollution that can be used in an inquiry based integrated unit. All these ideas are a great way to embed collaboration, critical thinking and develop students to become smart thinkers. #EDUC4750 #UoNTeach

@JaydenGodwin99 Thanks for the share. This is very useful as my Stage 2 students will be doing a walking excursion to participate in Take 3 so if they collect any water bottles, cans, etc they could get involved in this program.

Thanks for sharing. Return & Earn would be great for SDG12 reducing waste. You might also like to look into Big W's Toys for Joy bigw.com.au/toys-for-joy where old toys are recycled into new play equipment for disadvantaged kids. #EDUC4750 #SDG12 #UoNTeach

Recycling is crucial to combating #ClimateChange ♻️ Did you know Return and Earn offer a curriculum package? This program provides lesson plans and resources on sustainability and recycling, with clear links to the Australian Curriculum! Check it out #SDG13 #UoNTeach #educ4750

@JaydenGodwin99 My school could do a "No Thanks Campaign' very easy as they could get Plastic Free Port Stephens to help as they have already set a similar initiative in the local area with businesses.

Thanks @bayleighEDUC! This video would get kids thinking about what choices/behaviors they can change to reduce waste generation at school, home & in the community for a more sustainable future. Could your school do a 'No Thanks Campaign'? #EDUC4750 #SDG12 #UoNTeach
bayleigh@bayleighEDUC

No Thanks Campaign: A great way to get students thinking about ways they can reduce their use of plastic. This could be a great resource to link to a range of SDGs. #SDG14 #SDG12 #SDG12 #UoNTeach #EDUC4750 youtu.be/No2tyec2N-8

My project involves students creating videos to explain plastic pollution and encourage participating in Take 3. These will be played on the video info stands at the local beach for visitors. Do you have any ICT resources they can use to create the videos? #EDUC4750 #UoNTeach

Lord & Blattman's 'The Mess That We Made' and Godwin & Nielsen's 'Jelly-Boy' immerses readers into #SDG14 and plastic pollution. Texts are a way to embed environmental literacy as they inform and grow students’ motivation and awareness of environmental needs. #UoNTeach #EDUC4750

@MaddyCampbell97 Yeah, picture books are a great asset for the classroom. Picture books can be used in any stage and in multiple ways throughout a unit such as to access background knowledge, to create art on the topic or be used as stimuli for creative writing.
